Steve Cooper will always be the MAN!

It’s simple. Which side of the fence are you on?

I learned my lesson about second guessing the big man last season regarding Cooper. He backed him twice and continues to heavily bankroll him in the transfer market. He buys into him almost as much as us fans imo, so will be going nowhere for the foreseeable thankfully

Really can’t believe that Coops’ future could be remotely up for discussion!!!

But - unless we pick up a few points fairly soon - I don’t think the big man will have the patience / foresight to stick with him.

Our best chance of staying in this league is sticking with Steve Cooper.

Any replacement will be a downgrade, and most likely a significant one at that.

Not worried about EM making any rash decisions though. He stuck by Cooper last season and gave his two predecessors plenty of time before getting rid as well. The whole "EM is trigger happy" thing is a bit of a myth, he has shown more patience at Forest than morons on social media and gutter journalists have done over the last few years.

I will say one thing right now, which I hope is poignant especially amongst the 'I'm only speaking the truth' and 'The big man won't be happy' types. Marinakis stood by Cooper last season when the big man had heavily invested in the squad AND the team had gone on a 5 game losing streak by the time October came about. Think about that. Five games in a row. Losing.

This season. The big man has invested well again. But do you know how many games Forest have lost in a row? Guess. You might be surprised.

One.

We're almost at November. Is that competing better or not?

We are having a wobble, and nothing more.

Those that can't remember the wilderness years, are the ones demanding instant success. Football isn't like that, and never will be.

I always thought the second half of the season would be our time. Once all the new signings were bedded in, and playing to a structure.

When we beat Arsenal and Liverpool at home, then all this will be forgotten.

For F*** sakes, how is this even a conversation? :cautious:

We have just lost to Liverpool and it's sparked a discussion about the manager's future and potential replacements ffs. They've lost ONCE in ten games this season, hardly ever get beat at Anfield and we literally had no striker until halfway through the second half.

If we had won at Luton, we would have been either 12th or 13th. If we'd lost, we'd have been in the exact same position we are now with one less point.

Losing Taiwo to injury has been the difference maker, because either scoring or assisting, almost everything was coming from him. I have no doubt in my mind, if we had had T for the Burnley, Palace and Luton games we would have won.

This is how f***ing mental this conversation is. If we had won those three games, we would be on 16 points and 8th. Do you think there would be a single solitary soul talking about Julen Lopetegui if we're sitting in 8th place?

We have the same amount of points as all the teams in the relegation zone combined and have the same amount of wins as all the teams in the relegation zone combined.

Yes, we've spent money again this year but two things. One, we have the same issue we had last year in that we're trying to gel players but constantly having to change the team because of injuries. Two, we have a top ten midfield but we're short on quality up top, I don't think that is Steve's fault at all.

Taiwo is back in the 18. Felipe and Danilo are back on the grass. Yes, we'll probably lose to Villa and Brighton. It might be December before we win another game but I absolutely have 100% faith in Steve and this squad that we won't ever be in serious trouble this season. Even if by some miracle we end up in the relegation places at some stage, we're not going down with this squad and the teams that are below us.

I'd rather keep Steve and finish 16th again than finish f***ing 12th with someone like Lopetegui. Unless we're going for European places or getting relegated, where we finish is irrelevant. I just want to feel some sense of pride in my football club. Steve is one of the only reasons to, right now.
Brilliant post.

He loves the club and he is universally loved.

Very different circumstances though.

Expectations are different this season, you can see that just be looking at the atmosphere at the CG this season. With the money spent the supporters are expecting us to beat poorer teams at home and I'm sure EM feels the same way.

Last season was a 'stay up at all costs' season. Forget the style, forget how many players it takes, just stay up. This season is about building and if the big man can't see improvements then it's curtains for Cooper.

In that we've had a harder start to the season this time?
It's like a superating arsehole. The only way to sooth the itch is to scratch it sore.

You know what you get with a Cooper team: Usually hard to break down, battle for the full 90 minutes, take the odd scalp. Rarely we'll dominate a team and win by a big margin.

Where we are as a club what you get is more important than what you don't get from Cooper. Nitty gritty wins which will come and will almost certainly steer us to a 15th place finish give or take is significantly less risky than relieving him of his duties because whoever replaces him aint getting much above 10th and may make us worse, potentially making us weaker to the point we go down in 18th. The cost/benefit ratio is so skewed negatively it's unreal. Only if another manager was identified that could help us get a top four finish would I contemplate a change and frankly the only manager capable of that is Guardiola.

So yes, those who are getting nervous or itching for a change, go woo Pep Guardiola and then come back to those of us who've seen all this before with Forest acting too quickly to remove a manager and then watch us get worse. Multiple times over the last quarter century.

Things are still settling down. New players are still bedding in and, Liverpool aside, we're also trying to adapt to play in a different way. These things don't happen overnight, they don't come easy and there will be mistakes made by players and manager along the way and it's not made any easier by the constant backdrop of injury disruptions.
If these changes follow the same pattern as other changes we've made over the last 18 months, we'll come out the other side a lot better, we'll start to get results and people wanting Cooper out will go back to being quiet.
I'm confident that, come the end of the season, the Luton result will be a distant memory for most - and viewed in context by those who don't forget.

Yeah. Luton, Sheff Utd, Burnley, Brentford reserves, Palace reserves. To be honest we've done well to come out of that run with anything at all.

We will stay up and if that’s the aim nothing will happen, if the club expected more than just staying up a change will be made.

I’ll contemplate who’s next when we have a vacancy, it seems like a massive waste of time to wonder who’s next when we have someone in the dugout.

I’d like to win a game sometime soon though which will probably help matters.

Sauce salad?
The mystic mirror have him as in danger, with fan support 'appearing to dwindle' after a run on winless games. Not from me it hasn't - Steve Cooper is the man, and anyone suggesting the grass might be greener elsewhere (Thomas f***ing Frank FFS?!!) should remind themselves how shit watching forest has been for the majority of the last 25 or so years. Let the man get on with it - we're lucky to have him.

The fact that all the teams who got promoted last year are really struggling highlights how incredibly well Cooper did last season in keeping us up. You're not going to get instant success in the second season, some fans seemed to have imploded since the Luton result, yet Luton were a team at our level a couple of seasons ago.

There's so many clubs in the Championship that would love to be in our position (West Brom, Birmingham, Blackburn, Norwich, Leeds... the list could go on).

We're in the Premier League, I'm confident we're going to be safe and we're aiming to finish about 13th to 15th... for a fan who has supported Forest since 1996, it's HAPPY DAYS
