Listened to that Garibaldi Red podcast who seemed very assured that Niakate is being brought in for depth as the 1.Bundesliga is on a par with Ligue Un.
I know a lot of people won't be following euro leagues that closely, but 1.Bundesliga is probably the second best league in the world after the EPL and Niakhate is a captain for a quality side that finished one place outside of Europe, and above the current Europa League champions. He is coming in to start.

Anyone stating otherwise is making it up. The fee has been mooted at €15m, and you don’t pay that for a bench-warmer, which this lad is very definitely not.

I understand the attachment to the current crop who got us up last season, however we should always be looking to improve.
Every time we are linked with someone, you have people suggesting we stick with what we currently have. We don't need Henderson, we have Samba, we should only be looking at Davis as our striking option, the world will implode if we don't sign Spence.
The nature of football means players move on and the club should always been looking to develop and improve. Every player we should be looking to bring in should be with a view to them starting. Hopefully gone are the days when we bring in a load of squad fillers. The Premier League is harsh and won't accommodate any passengers.
