I can't stand people who make jokes on things people can't help - race, gender, sexuality, etc. Anything else should be fair game except religion.
I suppose the point about Grabban's beard is relevant here and it really should come under the taboo category. Grabban has that beard because he's a Muslim, though his religion is a choice, his beard having taken that is not. Jason Lee's hairstyle (which isn't too dissimilar from Bong's) is something he chose. It's not because he's black. And I think partially there it was because he was shit as well.
I don't think he was that bad but the same things people have moaned about were still there.
Drifting central and not taking on the wide players who could get a free cross in.
Constantly passing the ball out of play or to the opposition.
But the other players worked around it and it didn't cost us.
He was funny at the time, but not now.

The issue of Grabban's beard and the derision it has come in for on here came to my mind as well.
I do think the two are different though.
Some men just have a hard time with facial hair. Grabban clearly can't grow anything bar a thin straggly beard and so I doubt he would sport one were it not a tenet of his religion to do so.

Well perhaps. Like I said I don't find Frank Skinner very funny, nor did I find the pisstaking of Jason Lee funny either so I'm not going to go out of my way to defend him.
I think it's more down to him being a shit comedian rather than a WBA fan though.

It'd be a shit depiction of Lee if he hadn't! It wasn't racially motivated (well, other than pretty much everyone who has dreads is black and you can't tie dreads into a pineapple without dreads) so I don't have an issue with it on those grounds...

Don't get me started on anti-semitism. We're now getting to the stage where some hymns are being reworded because of this, to remove depictions that the Jews were somehow responsible for the crucifixion. Yet this is true, the Jewish High Priests arrested Jesus and took him to Pilate because they wanted to kill him and only the Romans could do this, Pilate didn't want to and only sanctioned it fearing a riot from the Jews, changing that isn't changing history at all?

Don't disagree with that. I thought FFL was funny at the time as a kid but comedy has moved on. Trey Parker/Matt Stone, Sacha Baron Cohen, much funnier and much more in tune with topical issues.

The Black & White minstral show was acceptable at the time as was blacking up in 'it ain't half hot Mum' but its not acceptable now but that that doesn't mean that the likes of Windsor Davies should be condemned for their part in it
I'm not comfortable with historical witchhunts, the focus should be nailing & educating racists in the present

You've got everyone laughing at it and many people find his harsh comments funny, but there's definitely something underlying with it all.
People view him as some sort of pantomine villain, but I've seen the words online about Irishmen. Conor McGregor doesn't help matters, but it still means people are judging a group because of a few famous people.
