It looks like Sky Sports actively encourage Roy Keane being a typical angry Irishman and seem to egg it on amongst his fellow pundits.

You've got everyone laughing at it and many people find his harsh comments funny, but there's definitely something underlying with it all.

People view him as some sort of pantomine villain, but I've seen the words online about Irishmen. Conor McGregor doesn't help matters, but it still means people are judging a group because of a few famous people.
Keane isn’t just an Irishman, he’s a Cork man.

For those unable to get the significance of this, think Yorkshire people in England.

By the way, it’s my understanding that Jason Lee wore his “pineapple” with pride and quite enjoyed the notice that he got for this.

Agreed,

The Black & White minstral show was acceptable at the time as was blacking up in 'it ain't half hot Mum' but its not acceptable now but that that doesn't mean that the likes of Windsor Davies should be condemned for their part in it

I'm not comfortable with historical witchhunts, the focus should be nailing & educating racists in the present

Well said Ed. I watched the Lee sketch back a few months ago, and it was piss-poor.

I’m sorry but what has his Irishness got to do with it?. There’s a rather boring “laddishness” about how all these football shows are set up, I mean witness those witless arseholes Lineker and Shearer on BBC. You’d have to go a long way to find a pair of more boring, dumb, insightless cretins that those two…

Keane is an angry man, but that’s nothing to do with him being from Cork or even Ireland which is coincidence. He is however undoubtedly intelligent and gives real perspective on football matters even if he is predictable

Indeed.
If anything, Roy Keane has a very driven personality. Being managed by two all time greats will have strengthened that, and then, being as successful as a player as he was, brings it out further. It may come across as stubbornness or anger, but, he knows what it takes to succeed in the game, and, as you say, he is very intelligent. He doesn't like seeing people get away with not giving their all, and this was evident with his summary on Sunday during the Arsenal match. His background and upbringing, no matter what country he is from, sets him on the right path, how he deals with it, is entirely him.

If Murphy manages to pull this through, it will be inscribed in gold letters as one of his greatest achievements, second only to promotion in the Premier League.

Think he'll be alright as cheap backup to Yuri with Chema going. His time at Brighton is a bit more relevant to us than his time at Oly and Chris Houghton is no mug, he wouldn't have played him as often as he did if Bong wasn't up to it. He's also another with fairly recent promotion experience which could be valuable.
Wrong in so many ways you absolute moron.

What a deal. Binning off Bong for the last 6 months of his deal will save us over half a million, presuming we don’t have to pay him off.

That’s a good chunk of the Laryea fee.

Great work from Murphy if he pulls this trick off.
