Ok thinking about it anyone else think us and luton/Burnley know the outcome of our points deduction appeal sending there keeper up made no sense to me at all keeping 1 point and being level with us on points is surley more important than risking losing in the last minute are sky trying to keeps viewers by making it seem more important than it is
Or has this year mad me mental
Well even more mental

It's not a must win game, so we should be OK.

Don't be silly. Luton sent their keeper up cos they absolutely had to win that game. A draw's no good for them.

When are we playing ourselves, we'd probably get a draw there.

No there'd be a last minute soft goal from a set piece. Who knows if that means we win the game or lose the game if we're playing ourselves though.

Bit like strapping some buttered bread on a cats back and throwing it off a building to see which way it landed.

No need to overthink it, neither team is winning that one.

In the latest Shut up and show more football podcast, Elanga kept saying they are looking forward to these 3 games, it's in our own hands, it's in our own hands.

Hope this confidence materialises in the pitch. 4 points from the next 2 should all but do it.

Other than how many grabs there are I'm at a complete loss as to what point this proves for you. It's a foul, end of story unless you're going down the same path as you have on numerous other occasions where you seem to think laws only apply as and when you see fit.
No, this is how the referees in England and every other country apply the laws. Few of the laws are applied "literally". Like the keeper releasing the ball within six seconds. Count how many times it goes beyond six seconds tomorrow. I can almost guarantee it will be double digits. Count how many pushes are not punished. You seem to think being a referee is predicated on looking at the laws in black and white terms.

You know what I mean, Cloughie.

These guys are a team, employees, colleagues. They will have felt everything the fans have and maybe more intensely.

Taking the money out of the equation, they're professionals who haven't performed at their best season. Behind the scenes, they've lived the VAR and PMGOL stuff just as much (if not more) than we have. Imagine what they've discussed privately.

When they've been preparing for the Sheffield United game all week, they'd have said don't talk about Luton. Don't think about Luton. But how many Forest players would have been watching that game tonight like us?

'Ok. After that, we need a point at least'. 'No easy set piece goals'. I think people do footballers a disservice sometimes. They're humans too and they're thinking like us. That's my fear. Which is why you need the big characters and leaders to step up in crucial times like this.

We've lacked an old head all year. We've got so many young and enthusiastic players, but a seasoned pro with a level head is something we've not really had. I loved Cook for that. I love Yates, but he's not the person to calm nerves when things get real. Ideally we'd have a CB or CM who has seen it all, to just keep everyone in line.

We've got way more talent than our league position shows. I think we have just lacked a born leader.

Maybe, just maybe, if the referees started looking at the laws in black and white, then there would be much less controversy, less criticism of referees and players wouldn’t keep pushing the boundaries (cheating) so much?

The worse games are the ones where refs strictly adhere to the letter of the laws.

The spirit of the laws are important in the game and the referee has to judge how much infringement can pass.

We often talk about advantage in respect of decisions, but we tend to focus on specific moments where goal opportunities are more prevalent. But its important for the flow of the game that referees act with leniency where offences do not confer or deny advtange.

That is in black and white of the laws, its a literal requirement of the referee as per law 5.

Can’t remember the last time I saw a game ruined by good refereeing. Lots of the opposite though- hence the Standard of Referees thread on here.

The point I'm making is that good refereeing will not abide by the letter of the laws either.

Hmm... Surely one side's "not in accordance with the laws but in the spirit of the laws" is the other side's "Oi, ref, don't you know the laws? you fecking wanker!"?

I do agree with "But its important for the flow of the game that referees act with leniency where offences do not confer or deny advtange." though. A good ref performance is usually proven by how well the game flows.
