Gamston Bridge anyone? Tollerton? I suspect that one of the long-awaited announcements will be made soon, and that will be to 'test the water' about alternative locations.
Gamston Bridge is probably gone, given the road alterations recently completed.

Tollerton, there are already plans to build on that site, I am unsure if that would be feasible either, given the paucity of resources around that area, specifically the lack of public transport and the limited road infrastructure (the same argument could be levelled at Gamston).

Of course, infrastructure improvements could be put in, but those will come at gargantuan costs, which the football club will be expected to fund (because you know, local or indeed central government won’t do so for a location outside London). And that would bang up the overall costs to silly levels.

Part of the attraction of the current site is bizarrely its accessibility, because of its central location; we know access needs improvement, but those improvements could be done at more reasonable cost than extending existing road networks or rail/tram to either Gamston or Tollerton.

You know how even the daftest throwaway comment gains traction and becomes a solid rumour.
At least we have an acceptable electrified railway to London.....but there isn't any spare land in Grantham now.....they are too busy putting unaffordable houses or solar farms on the remaining few acres.

Someone comes along every now and again and chucks an egg at the Thatcher statue but it goes largely un-noticed now.

I always pick up a few eggs from a farm when I'm in Lincs. It'll be handy to have them in the car on the way home via Grantham, you've given me an idea!

Any news on the link road from Somerby / Cold Harbour to the A1?

I have not been in the centre of Grantham, or driven through the town, since that statue of Thatcher was erected.

Re the stadium, it is clear from the comments on here that the current facilities are sadly lacking in many ways. Come on Forest, do something other than fleecing your hard core fans.

If it becomes clear that what is both needed and wanted can't be achieved at the current site then relocation must be considered ... if it hasn't already been. My guess is that it has. A few weeks ago Chairman Tom apparently showed Danny Taylor the plans for the redeveloped stadium, including the Bridgford. I wold feel better about the pricing of tickets if those plans are made available to the paying customer.
It's another thing that gets your back up LP. The plans get shown to a reporter (albeit a forest fan) but they won't show them to the paying customers they're fleecing.

I remember an IKEA advert back in the day when the customer was complaining that there wasn't a store nearby, their solution was to build one over the customers estate. West Bridgford anyone? Or ii suppose that could regenerate the Meadows overnight

Precisely, although I do wonder if the plans are real plans or an architects fancy? I've said it many times before, there are significant problems to be overcome to develop and expand the WFCG. One reason for not public disclosing any plans then would be that the relevant authorities (Rushcliffe and the County Council) haven't seen them either!

Still not open. 2025 being put forward now for a possible opening, Despite hundreds of thousands being spent on surveys saying the ground was ok, it was then found to be wholly unsuitable for the bridge over the railway. New and more supports have had to be made, but progress is pitifully slow.

Thanks, I appreciate the intel.

Another fantastically bodged job then. I'll have to meander through the potholes on Whalebone Lane for another year by the looks of it.

You won't. Been shut for a couple of years now.

They managed to get the Lincoln North-South relief road built faster than our by-pass, and the rate that they are going, will get their proposed South-East section done before ours is completed.

I turn off the A1 at Ponton, then back lanes to the new roundabout ny the quarry, Somerby Hill roundabout, then onwards to Boston. Works OK except for the potholes.

Re the WFCG, if they can do it up to a reasonable standard, and are confident of getting the OK, then fine. if not, we'll have to move ..... I think that they know that. Chairman Tom could prove me wrong by bringing out the plans shown to Danny Taylor, by telling us about how the concourses are to be upgraded, by telling us what the 'safe standing' thinking was (I use the term thinking with caution) and so on. All we've had is promises, and a ridiculous price rise. The Evertonians are loving it, 'club seriously pisses iff fanbase before a crucial game'. Whoever is leading at the club needs to have a reset, or just go.

Notts county are making some investment in the summer including an epl level pitch, undersoil heating, more corporate seating and a new press box.

It wouldnt work if you were in the prem but do you reckon if you moved out for 1 season you could get a lot more work done on your ground?

That’s the problem, nobody really is leading at the football club.

It looks like they are just making it up as they go along, with neither a clear plan nor strategy involved. The rapid turnover of executive roles, the muddled hierarchy, the confusion about who does what, no clear, single goal or roadmap for anything, it’s all a bit rubbish, to be honest. A „business“ with a turnover of £155m, or whatever it is now, should absolutely not be run in such a cack-handed manner.

And we all know where that will end up.

Well, I have run quite a few things, including what I am up to currently, if that helps? Management and Leadership - despite what armies of „business consultants“ might want to tell you - is not that difficult to get right.

What frustrates many of us, is that Forest seem to be unable to do the simple things correctly - public relations, for one example, where despite their healthy social media presence, they seem to consistently shoot themselves in the foot? Fixing functional problems at the City Ground, you know, things like basic hygiene, or offering a better level of food and beverages, and improving the service thereof, is not difficult, it really isn‘t.

The finance stuff has been debated to death, here and elsewhere, but it is a massive failing (for any business, not just a football club) to mess up so badly that you get sanctioned for it (especially in a field where there is so much cash that is washing about).

The constant chop-and-change in senior leadership roles is never a good sign for any company; yes, understandably, the owner might be a difficult man to work for (I don‘t know for certain, as I have never met him) but in that respect, if he is that volatile, demanding success, then this is one perhaps major contributory factor to the seeming constant crises that Forest seem to be lurching from?

However, I am not sure I could afford the drop in pay, knowing the paucity of what Forest offer for off-the-field roles!

We don't need a new stadium. We're Premier League. We got here with the City Ground as it is. No need to change. All's good as it is.

Strummer doesn't have the ambition.

It's why we're here talking to strangers and EM is a wildly successful businessman and all round great guy.

If only you could buy ambition.
