The Relegation Dogfight 23/24

Both Burnley & Luton are injury hit - Luton are down to bare bones, almost out on their feet.
Both Spurs & West Ham have points to prove & are different gravy at home.
Looking forward to lunch & a few beers at the L&V whilst watching the two London teams do the business.

Agree with that

Everyone was saying we were doing well because we didn't get thrashed in the away games against the big clubs, but those results you mention were disastrous and the biggest cause of our current position

Second biggest cause is bad goalkeeping. Third biggest cause is Taiwo being injured.
Agree on the goalkeeping
Not convinced with Taiwo. Wood has got 12 goals, I think - so the front 2 have got 18 goals between them - I am not sure we could expect more than that from either or both of them. It would be good to have them both fit at the same time though,

Still in the planning stage as to where to watch the earlier games, going for a few around town before hand, as i wont see some of the lads for a few weeks.
3 weeks actually - when the T20 starts @ Trent Bridge.

It's hard work being a sports fan in Notts 🍻🍻🍻

What choice did we have?

1) Reject the rules and get denied our place in the PL
2) Accept the rules and abide them, end up like Sheff Utd or Luton back to where we started 12 months later.
3) Accept the rules, f***-about and find-out if they get enforced given that they'd never really been enforced prior.

We didn't have much of a choice. "Whinging about it after" is fair enough if they come down like a tonne of bricks on wee old Forest but not Chelsea or Man City.

Whole Premier League charade is just bullshit from their FFP sack o' shite through to their referees.

Football in this country needs an independent regulator. Now.
This quite worrying - I am finding myself agreeing with you more often than not these days

So Luton and Burnley had favourable fixtures at home on Friday/Saturday. Tottenham and West Ham will get a lot of chances with Luton and Burnley having to push high.

Good point. Might have a couple early doors at Trent Bridge whilst watching some cricket on Saturday 👍

Got to drive to Manchester on Saturday to see my grandson who has no interest in football, so it might be the case that I watch MOTD in the hotel without knowing any results during the day.

If Spuds are going to lie down against Man City in order to prevent the title going to the Arse, they'd better beat Burnley to get a European spot.

Wet Sham are always difficult to beat at home, they hit the woodwork 3 times vs Chelsea even though the end result was pretty bad.

Luton and Burnley aren't being televised, as they are in the 3pm blackout window.

Fulham v Man City or Celtic v Rangers are the lunchtime tv games.

I'm not worried about Luton or Burnley getting wins on Saturday

Burnley haven't beaten anyone higher than 13th away from home:

And Luton no-one higher than 15th

I think it's more likely than not that neither of them win before we kick off against Chelsea and we'll need a point at the most to be safe

Fair points mate.

We’re unlucky in the sense that it’s the first year they’ve really done anything about infringements, and also 2 teams from the ‘Big 6’ don’t seem to be getting treated with the same urgency.

To be fair to Luton they have had an awful injury list recently, and their form Has dropped off a lot. They have got their 2 best players back now in Adebayo and Lokonga, and they were a bit unlucky v Everton. Hopefully West Ham can do the business but im not writing them off yet

Most of Luton’s players are back - 1 maybe 2 of the starting 11 out. Burnley just Ramsey out of there starting 11?

Fair enough - just the 8 players out 🤦‍♂️
8 players who, including substitute appearances have played made less than 100 appearance between then all season. 3 of that 8 likely to be back this weekend. Adebayo and Lakonga are the ones they have missed but they are back, Lockyer as well maybe. They must have a massive squad to have so many out and still fill the bench.
I would suggest injuries to us have had as big or a bigger impact.

Nothing against your post specifically, but I'm really tired of the "plucky Luton would be fine if it weren't for all their injuries" narrative. Every team has had to contend with injuries. Mighty Man Utd have to play Casemiro as a CB, ffs! Luton are just hit harder because they have too few players who can play at this level, imho.

I've nothing against Luton and would have "absolutely loved it" had they stayed up at the expense of f*cking Moneyball-Xg Darlings Brentford, but it wasn't to be. But now, sadly, they can just do one.

So Spurs have lost 4 on the bounce, and are also Spurs. West Ham have lost 3 of their last 4, have nothing to play for and have given their most successful manager in decades the boot. Chelsea on the other hand, have finally found some form at last. I'm dreading Saturday.
No, mate. You will be loving Saturday by 5pm.
