Bugger! Villa win it, and it turns out that yellow cards earned during the game don’t carry over to the penalty shoot-out, which I didn’t know before now. That gives goalkeepers license to f*** around like hell during the shoot-out knowing that they can do it until they get booked even if they were booked during the game. Interesting…

Yeah I suppose I’m just annoyed because I had some interest in one of the sides. Brice Samba would thrive on that wouldn’t he - push his luck all the way and take a late yellow during the game, then carry on with whatever he could get away with during the shoot-out and pick up another yellow, and he’d love that. Oh how great that would be to watch if he were still with us, helping to keep up our positively Germanic penalties record…I quite like the shithousery tbh.

If the keeper gets sent off in the shootout what happens though? Are they allowed to sub on and do normal subs rules apply or do the opposition just take pens into an open goal? Or does one of the outfielders have to go in?
