Even when you're being bank rolled by a whole country and have most of the cards stacked in your favour.

Huh? Look at who they were playing against, a side for whom debt and overdrafts mean nothing. How Real aren't in perpetual FFP trouble is a mystery to all but UEFA top brass.

Anyway, it is good to keep that record. Hoping BvB win it this year.

Still not sure it disproves SKY'S claim that the Premier League is the best. I'd suggest it certainly has better depth than the others. No way to prove it though.

Aston Vila losing 2-0 to Lille at the moment for the Conference League, which means that there will be no British teams in two out of the three European competitions. Which may be three out of three competitions by the end of the night, since Liverpool and West Ham will most likely be eliminated in the Europa League.

And if it stays like that, England‘s coefficient will fall behind that of Germany, and therefore the Germans will get an additional fifth „Champions“ League place.

No teams from the best league in the world, surely a mistake?

Vila managed a goal minutes before the final whistle. It will go on overtime as it stands.

Very frustrating (although I’m pleased for Matty) as it let Villa back into the tie at the death out of absolutely nothing. Nevertheless, Chevalier has redeemed himself somewhat with a bit of a worldie of a save from an almost point-blank header into an almost open goal. Les Dogues fight on!

Stade Pierre Mauroy looks to be rocking, though!

And in the other ties, early goals for Wet Sham (against Leverkusen, who are probably still hung over) and the scousers.
