Snatchday 1: Nottingham Forest Vs the PGMOL

Fortunately the colonial past is nothing to do with me. I always wonder why people in this day and age who work for the benefit of so many other nations should have to apologise for something that happened 200 years ago.

It's stuff which gets done these days and the participants seem to think that saying sorry can negate the hurt and injury caused. Like the blood thing that's going on or the Post Office scandal.

One might argue that professionals should be able to conjure the mental strength to remain unaffected by the incessant unjust decisions, but I don't think that's reasonable, or realistic.
Yeah the cliche of fine margins is true. I don't have much time for the "stiff upper lip, just show more pashun!!" brigade really in general. Confidence and skill play just as much part at this level for me. And confidence is low.
In any case, the players still had the courage to get into their box at least six times just off the top of my head, compared to Everton's zero that I can remember.

Wholly coincidentally, but Thursday is the 40th anniversary of a Forest game.

Away.

At Anderlecht.

See, this is why the Premier League won’t ever consent to their officials being wired-up with microphones in real time, like they do in Rugby Union.

„Can you check that for me, Stu?“

„Yeah, Ant, looked a bit dodgy, but it’s Man U innit, so we‘ll let them off…“

„Right you are mate, Masters has chucked a monkey behind the bar for later, so we’re all sorted!“

As someone who went to the game in Brussels,I can live the fact a referee may have ‘taken a
dive’-it happened to Forest in 1984 and allegedly to Derby in 1973.
What I can’t live with however is that the modern game appears to be rigged through FFP
and VAR to keep certain clubs as the top and retain the status quo.

The problem is - we have always believed these Jonny foreigners are capable of skulduggery but surely not us, we are above such things.

Good old UEFA who had known about the ref being bribed for several years but decided to do absolutely nothing about it until the whole thing was made public in 1997

What an absolute joke
And we have the corruption at FIFA yet people have the naivety and arrogance to think it would never happen within the PL or PGMOL

There will always be individual ‘bad apples’.
What I hate is corporate style rigging and deceit-which the Premier League can easily be
accused of (I would include UEFA in that comment too).
The best thing any genuine football fan could do is cancel their Sky subscription (which I
did in 2010 as I wasn’t prepared to fund Wayne Rooney’s wages).

If the PGMOL won’t release the audio publicly, Forest should ask for a written transcript, then take a leaf out of the BBC from the 1980s/90s when the government banned Sinn Fein MPs Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness from being interviewed on the telly, the Beeb decided to show the footage, but have actors over-dub the voices, and there was nothing the government could do about that.

Forest could spice it up a bit by getting some celebs in to do the voiceovers.
This is how we should do it.

Well, those in the media who have backed the PGMOL have even openly admitted that Attwell has made a 'mistake'. So, one of your most qualified refs, with the benefit of a multi angle, multi speed video replay has still made such a glaring mistake (or three!!) proves he's either corrupt or incompetent. I don't know any other professional that is allowed to so blatantly make errors that can result in multi million pound loses and chalk it off as 'a mistake' ..

What do the Telegraph readers on here make to them comparing us to Donald Trump?

"Today, Forest are not merely demanding unrealistic perfection from officials, but impugning the integrity of a VAR for allegedly supporting a rival. "

Is it unrealistic perfection we're demanding? This clown hasn't done his research or is on the payroll.
