Snatchday 1: Nottingham Forest Vs the PGMOL

We’re gonna be the prime time game or whatever this weekend right? Wonder how much abuse Neville is going to get from our lot.

Don’t even let the rat in.

He'll be hiding at the North London Derby with his rat friend.

Whereas, this version of Mr Marinakis will be waiting.. ;)

What we need is a few million or so football fans to cancel their sky sports subscription. Sky would soon be on the phone to the PL and PGMOL ;)
That will never happen. Unless something happens in their own backyard, people, for the most part, don't give a f*** about anything.

Gallagher says the threshold for contact has increased in the last few weeks… should the threshold not be set at the beginning of the season and stuck to throughout?
No. Because when "soft" pens everyone loses their shit and they have to react. In a certain sense, fans who constantly moan and whine about referees actually make things worse. The big problem, for me, is most people see many grey decisions as black and white. They want simple problems to complex things. It's the same with politics, and a myriad of other things societal and otherwise. Keep It Simple Stupid is the most ridiculous moniker ever invented. It rarely applies to anything.

No, let him in and destroy that axe-wound forehead. The arrogant hypocrite needs to be knocked off his perch, to quote Sir Alex.

He's built up this aura around him because of his millions and big Sky Sports contract where he thinks he's untouchable and he's somehow the mouthpiece for every working class fan. Champagne socialist is what he is. Nothing better than the people he complains about in politics.

He's a fraud, as a manager and a pundit. No true morals or values about him, only out to get the bag. Hence why players couldn't connect to him.

I guess you are right but maybe there should be more disclosure on changes in the way games are refereed. I’m guessing clubs are informed. But why can’t fans be informed as well and then it will stop reactions like this. There needs to be more transparency in how refereeing and VAR works as it seems to a fan like they make it up as they go along.

The Godfather one was true, IIRC, Scorsese had several meetings with different mafia, and was only allowed to continue if that word was not used. As you say, its not a badge they like, they prefer 'family'.

Marinakis is known to be the same, and for Neville to use a term often used to describe criminal organisations, on live TV, is a silly decision for him to make.
Expect him to backtrack once he finds his spine.

Absolutely agree with that - lets face it there's enough wall-to-wall coverage of football for this to be communicated, and the PGMOL would, I suggest, be seen in a better light if it was shown to be learning, considering and sharing updated thinking about rules and their interpretation to tighten up officiating in response to real-world examples that show when current practices are leading to inconsistency and poor/wrong decisions.

With regard to the video of the studio discussion and the Ashley Young handball, I've always been of the opinion that a "ball-to-hand" incident should not be given unless the offending player is clearly (I acknowledge there's a degree of subjectivity here again) using their arms in the same way as say a goalkeeper would go make themselves "big" - for me that's the weakest of the three. The other two I would absolutely expect to be given.

Finally for my two penn'th - in an ideal world the PGMOL should announce (assuming this is allowable under UEFA/FIFA rules) a complete review of the VAR implementation and seek to follow the excellent example set by Rugby Union. Anyone who had seen how they have an open mic allowing the public/commentators to follow the discussion live between their VAR and the ref, see the replays and the understand the reasoning behind any decision, can see how it would bring nothing but postives to the situation. I fear however that they are blinded by a belief that this would elevate VAR above the ref on the pitch which they are desperate to avoid.

Forgive my pedantry Donny, but it was Francis Ford Coppola who directed the Godfather.

I see Barcelona are kicking off now after VAR ruled out a goal in el Classico.

We’ve started something
I haven’t read all 24 pages…so apologies if this has been covered, but I’ve seen a lot of other teams fans supporting our approach.

The only complaint about it from me is mentioning Luton Town.

The Premier League, with all of its money should be the best officiated league in the world. Rather than controlling the narrative they should be defining it by letting the story be told without bias.

I'm not sure if it's an illusion because of my personal bias, or just because I've been paying more attention because it's Forest who are involved, but the pro-Premier League/corporate angle from both Sky and Talksport has been quite noticeable.

It goes without saying that they know where their bread is buttered, so I'm trying not to be naive about that, but it has felt like it runs deeper somehow. Jim White in particular sounded like a PL mouthpiece this morning, almost to the point of being aggressive.
Jeff gave him a bit of a challenge though as the show was being handed over. ‘Your understanding Jim? But from who? Who are your sources?’ JW avoided those little questions.

„But from who, Jim White?“

To borrow a phrase. I’ve met Jeff, he’s an absolute gentleman, a lovely guy and loves his football. Jim White is an obnoxious bell end in comparison.

We obviously don't feel like our club is magic on and off the pitch but if we perhaps sing repeatedly on Sunday to the same tune "Sky Sports are w***ers, Nevilles full of s**t" at the same volume as the last time City came it would be quite funny.

Just do what we did to Keegan in Madrid and insert Gary Neville.

Gary Neville you’re a wanker on repeat.

Ah, Gary Neville, man of the people!

Sold his soul to Qatar in the World Cup, and has made no secret that he wanted the Qataris to take over Man Utd. A regime that has little regard to human and lgbt rights.

The Labour Party member that wants to redevelop part of historic Manchester. Affordable homes? God no, luxury apartments that only the mega rich can afford.

The man that wanted to pay his staff the barest minimum wage to work in his luxury hotels. Long hours and no paid overtime.

The man that thinks that the laws of the road apply to everyone else, apart from him.

Gary Neville only has two interests.....money and himself!

He probably meant that a fortnight ago a penalty wasn't given against Liverpool for a tackle in the box so for the next few weeks we can't give them to anyone else either.
However if Forest tackle in the box against Man City on Sunday, they'll start giving them again.

The pedant in me has to say that it was Francis Ford Coppola who directed The Godfather (and met with Mafia bosses) not Scorsese. But I agree with your point. It's a strong term for Neville to use.

Gary Neville's wife woke up in bed this morning with what she first thought was a horse's head, before quickly realising it was her husband.
