Not for me, unless it was <£5m and player actually proved he wanted to be here. We've been burned recently enough by signing players who don't want to be here and then play like that on the pitch.

He was good, but not irreplaceable, don't think we've looked any worse for having Aina in the side.

I agree with this, last summer for the fee he sold for I'd have taken him. Now unless we get him for basically nothing why bother.

Aina,Toff and Omar for LB Neco and new signing for RB. With Aina playing both sides we would have 3 players for both sides.

Agree with this 100%. He didn't want to stay before why would he want to come back. And yeah, Aina is arguably just as good.

Is Aina an actual left back though by trade? Or is he there because Nuno rates Williams/Montiel higher than Toffolo? This is a genuine question as I have no idea.

I'd have thought Aina/Williams on the right and fully fit Richards/Toffolo would be the way to go if possible so valuable funds can be spent elsewhere.

He came in as a multi sided wb, he's played competently on both sides and hasn't looked out of place playing lb so I'd say most definitely he is.

Would love to see him back, not for silly money though.

Recon he'd work well with Murillo on the left side of the back line. Aina on the right.

Could also mean we happily send Montiel back to Spain rather than even consider a perm deal.

I'd absolutely love to see him back, the image of him grabbing the badge after his goal vs Brighton is forever burned in my memory.

I concur with others however, I do not see him displacing the people ahead of him at this current point in time, and I wouldn't want to spend too much on him.

Meh I’d rather we spend it elsewhere. Aina and Williams are the future, need a right sided backup tho.

Wasn't Aina on a one year contract?
We will need to get him to sign a new one first and I'd imagine some of the bigger clubs will be sniffing around him!

I’m pretty sure we either extended it or had the option for another year, there was news about it recently.

Yep, according to the Telegraph anyway:

Nottingham Forest are triggering a contract extension for Ola Aina after an impressive debut season at the City Ground.

Forest have an option to activate a new one-year deal for the Nigeria international and it is understood to be a formality.

Give him a 5 year contract man I love the guy.

I think we need a LB better than Toffolo. Richards could break down again and then we have Aina and Williams as our only realistic options.

I like Toffolo, great professional and what he does for the club / mental illness is to be hugely respected. But, he’s not quite at the standard of those around him.

I’d keep Toffolo, but only if we couldn’t get a decent fee.

Toffolo is one of those in between players for me, in that he's too good for the level below but probably technically not quite good enough for where we are at.

Good guy though, and if we keep Aina around for both sides and let Montiel and Tavares go, is probably worth retaining as cover for an upgraded left back.

As far as I'm concerned Lodi would be great fof that, though can't see it if various reasons.

I'd have Lodi back in a heartbeat. Fantastic player.

As for Toff, don't mind him sticking around as a 4/5th choice full back (Neco and Aina can both play both sides so I count them all as a collective) as he's solid and seems a good guy but I'd also happily see him move on for some more game time.

Yes.

Let's also not forget if Neco or Aina is playing LB then someone else needs to play RB. Montiel aside (whom I would be surprised to see the club take up the option of a permanent deal) we don't really have any other options aside from bringing in another one.

So considering them as cover and options at LB means we'd still need another full back.

FWIW I think Aina is the best LB at the club though getting Lodi back would change this.

No one else concerned that since he left us under a year ago, two clubs have spent a lot of money on him then been happy to offload him barely six months later? Doesn't scream essential, I assume his form must have dropped off quite significantly. It'd be a no from me at the prices he's been going for (and I was genuinely gutted when we didn't get him in the summer).

He’s been in SA for six months. I think anyone’s form, let alone will to live would drop off.

Maybe he’s missing Nottingham 😉

Even though he is right footed, I think he looks far more comfortable at left back. Personally I don't see a massive difference from Aina to Lodi which is worth the multi-million pound investment it would require.
Only if he's recently divorced would he come here and be happy
She might like Toton though?

Anyway, LB isn't a position I think we really need to be investing good money in. Aina and Toff are a fine 1/2. Neco has arguably been POTS at RB, but maybe a backup for him there would be useful.
