Question about new season tickets

As a relatively long term member of this forum, but only on a viewing basis, I thought I would make my first post in response to this issue. I have been going to the City Ground for well over 40 years now and have worked there on match days for the past 25. With this increased away fan allocation the big problem Forest are now faced with is the policing of these fans. Those with reasonable memories will know that we used to give away fans the whole of the lower Bridgford, even in the Championship. Teams like Leeds and Sheff Wed regularly used to fill the allocation and make a real racket behind the goal. I believe that Fawaz had something to so with changing this, after being petitioned by fans soon after he took over. As a result Forest cut its away allocation in half and limited it to 2000 and introduced home fans into the other half of the stand.

From an atmosphere perspective the lower Bridgford is not a great place to house away fans as the low roof to the stand generates a lot of noise and when completely filled with away fans the noise is amplified and it often drowned out the home fans. Cutting the allocation in half and housing the Forza guys and other vocal home fans next to the away support has made things much better and this past season there has been a wall of sound from all home parts of the ground, but this increase in the away allocation is going to affect the atmosphere in the ground next season.

The issue here is logistics and the policing of the away fans. By putting them in the lower Bridgford they can be corralled and separated from the home fans. With the lower tier home fans accessing their seats through turnstiles in the PT stand the police are able to keep the away fans separated at the back of the Bridgford stand where their buses are parked. They can also walk them over Lady Bay Bridge to and from the railway station. As soon as you look to move the away fans to another area of the ground you are going to meet with objections from the police and security. Ideally they should be put into the corner of the lower Clough stand, but that then brings them into contact with home fans coming in and out of upper Bridgford and upper and lower Clough. Gone are the days of mass brawls outside the stadium with the likes of Leeds, Cardiff, Swansea fans, but the police will point out that the current segregation has gone a long way to prevent this from happening.

So, if the away allocation is to be increased to 3000 there is really nowhere else the club can put them and the home lower Bridgford fans will have no option but to vacate their seats. It’s not great and I would be hacked off if I had to move seats as a result, but the club has no alternative due to limitations of the ground in its current format. Even if the new PT stand goes ahead as planned I can't see how it would be able to house the away fans for the same logistical reasons.

The only other alternative is the upper Brigford, as they can come in via the side entrance, but then I'm not sure where the exit is.

Good first? post though

Not just the corner , the whole of the UB made noise last year

BC lower toward the away fans was getting pretty vocal too , and the upper

The only silent part was the TE , barely heard da peep out of them.

I’ve had a season ticket in the upper TE for years now and can assure you it’s a noisy place to be. I think the acoustics could be why it seems quiet from other parts of the ground? From my seat lower BE doesn’t seem that loud?

Lower BE is a constant noise. Has been for ages. My lad doesn't like it as he comes out deaf! Honestly its the end for singing atmosphere, although I have to say the upper BE was also fantastic tgis season. The game against Sheff utd was a real change though...the whole stadium was just deafening.

The reallocation of the 900 seats on lower Be is a shame but with 8 weeks left what can you do? Forest have a working solution. Lets not forget those 900 will simply move their wall of sound to another area. Crux of the matter is the stadium isn't adequate...but give it time.

It's great to have the prem league supporters visiting the City Ground again, and they play their part. I didn't go to the Liverpool game watched on TV and tbh....Forest supporters were f***ing loud for 90 mins, Liverpool got going a few times but overall out supporters are outstanding 👏

Having moved around the stadium except for the short time I had an ST in the Upper BC, I have to say that every stand thinks it's making a racket because you only really hear the fans around you.

Just think, thousands of fans shouting in your ear, you're not going to hear much else.

Found the same thing going away. If the away fans are in full voice you think the home fans are rubbish because you can't hear them, your mates are creating such a racket right beside you.

I've moved to TE Upper. Was there years before moving to LB

Went in there for Leicester and Arsenal cup games, it was good but is that because they were cup games?

Also went in the Main Stand for 1 game and it was shocking. Maybe it's me but I don't really get how people sit there not getting emotionally involved or reacting to the game?! Other than the 2 goals we scored, it was like a morgue.

What I did also notice is that from TE Upper I could barely hear the LB or A Block and vice versa.

And as pointed out above, I don't think 3-4k away fans making a noise behind the goal is a good thing, bit of a disadvatage I think and we'll need all we can get next season.

Obviously something had to give but I think the club have f**ked up a bit here and it's something that should be rectified long term.

Personally, I would put the away fans in the BC lower. I've been to quite a few away games where we've been in a long, shallow side stand and it's very hard to get songs going when you're that spread out.

One thing that’s clear is that when the whole ground cranks it up the noise is amazing wherever you sit. 56 years going to the City Ground, and last season’s atmosphere is as good, if not better, than anything I’ve experienced. And don’t get me started on the wall of sound that went up on the final whistle at Wembley😱

Any news on Season ticket Renewal date, and prices?
I'd already paid for mine by this time last year.
Surely, the Club aren't worried about which division we'll be playing in are they?

I suspect that’s exactly the reason for the delay and that they’re planning on another big price hike if we stay up.

As long as the club has no plans to end the pensioner discount as is the case at Spurs. Daniel Levy's policy is to no longer issue discounts to fans reaching pension age, and to phase out that offered to existing recipients over the coming few seasons.

It goes without saying that a protest group has emerged amongst the fanbase, not that Levy is likely to view that as anything other than a brief inconvenience.

Worrying about how they're going to spin either freezing PL season ticket prices for the Championship and make you feel like you're getting a good deal or deciding how much they can raise the prices by if we stay up, to try and justify their overspending.

I realise it's open season on EM for some on here such as yourself, but name a club in the PL that won't be considering a price-hike of some amount or, should the worst happen, potentially offering four extra Championship games for a price-freeze or even a small increase?

Best of luck with that task.

We got rid of a number of concession categories last year (my dad's over-75 group for example) - price of his ticket soared, quality of the football didn't soar......

The balance the club has to consider is relegation (with the attendant dismantling of the quality elements of the squad), cost of living, f**ked-off-ness with the whole thing will potentially leave them in a position where they can't necessarily say "we don't care if you don't want to renew, someone else will buy your season ticket" , because almost certainly they won't.

Having turned 75 not too long ago, I'd have qualified for that concession too had it not been removed last year Flaggers. Then again, that 'initiative' was only cynically introduced by Mark Arthur to try and quell the criticism he rightly received when he arbitrarily moved the concession age from 60 to 65 with immediate effect, making NFFC the first club to make that change and, so I'm led to believe, the only one to not do it incrimentally on a season-by-season basis.

Unfortunately, as you know the nature of football, as with most team sports, demands that the quality of the product you're paying for is anything but guaranteed. Of course, the aforementioned Mark Arthur's shameless "We're Serious About Promotion, Are You?" price-rise stunt, which shamefully ended in relegation, was probably the most obvious example of that.

It's open season because a number of his decisions and actions especially this season have brought the club's reputation into question. I'm sure other teams are considering it, but I don't support other teams, I support Nottingham Forest. Spurs want to get rid of their OAP concessions, that's up to them but I'd be disgusted if we did that sort of thing here.

There is absolutely no reason to be paying Premierleague prices for Championship football and the amount that folk already pay in the Premierleague for tickets, is at times expensive. Did you know they made the Wolves home game, a Category A home game. WOLVES.

If they want to treat me like a consumer, I'll f***ing complain like one.

I think in terms of the season ticket holders, the vast majority will renew regardless of league because we'd be expected to go back up and they wouldn't want to lose their spots with a good amount of people on the waiting list. Same thing goes with Memberships, which is what I have. I have a hard figure in mind for both a membership in the Premierleague and a membership in the Championship which are the most i'd pay in good conscience. Sort of felt obligated to pay the £95 this year but the club has used up all that blind good will with me, with how things have gone.

Don't get me started on the "perks". I think I chucked that scarf they sent in the bin or sent it down the charity shop, after they plastered MyForest all over it.

The idea of a membership in the Championship is a difficult one, because on the one hand, if we had a Leicester/Leeds/Southampton type season, the demand for tickets would be high. If we got to October/November and we were like Watford/Norwich, then we'd probably get back to the days of General Sale for quite a few games.

I'd argue that a number of EM's "decisions bringing the club's reputation into question" is subjective.

As for next season's season-card prices, as welcome as it would be, I think it's quaintly naive to expect prices to drop on relegation to the Championship, although in the case of a freeze they technically are.

Someone with a Membership who attends all 18 games this season will pay a total of around £900 for an upper BC ticket, they will also have paid £95 Membership fee. These figures make the season ticket price look a bargain. They recently made the Wolves game a Cat A fixture also which is unbelievable
