I am not sure how much difference it would make. Part of the problem is we have no style of play or consistent team selection.

Nuno needs to deliver that or leave. So far I have seen very little to give me confidence he can do that
TBF, he has said he won't know his best team until the end of the season.

I think it is absolutely essential we only bring in a few players. A right back, preferably youngish and inexpensive, to back up Neco. A good central mid. One more winger. And if Turner doesn't want to be number two a back up keeper. Vlachadimos is gone. Felipe will be allowed to leave. We may lose either MGW or Awoniyi, and playing without an attacking central mid may be our best option. If MGW isn't poached, I think he will operate deeper and I think he has the tools to be effective there IF he wants to be a number 8 instead of a 10. I like 4 in front of a back 3, and I feel it will offer us the best formation.

Moyes is available, but at the moment his CV looks a bit mixed.
Some really successful times; some less so.
Mind you, his time at ManUre was a bad error on his part, joining after Sir Alex had retired (and remained as a Director!!), and Sullivan doesn't seem to be the sort of owner who would bond with his manager...

Moyes will be a disaster here, he had much better talent at West Ham to get away with the mistakes and win games with individual brilliance.

Here 7 players have to perform at 7+ to stand any chance of 3 points. They concede goals by the bucketload, it will be low blocking a draw occasionally and losing heavily in the others.

If Moyes had Liverpool on his CV and not United I've no doubt big Vag would be on the blower today. Not a chance Moyes would say aiy though.
I'm not sure Moyes would be the right man for the job.
At some point there is a passing of the old guard - the Warnocks, etc have had their day.
The merry-go-round of a small number of men regarded as "proven" is losing riders on the horses.
Younger managers, more in touch with the younger players, and open to modern thinking are becoming the vogue.
I'm not sure we should be thinking of changing in the summer... and if we do, I can't put a name in the frame.

I don't want us to change - it's about giving Nuno time to put his mark on the squad. I'm just saying the big man couldn't resist a former Liverpool manager. You just know he'll offer it Klopp next time it comes up without a hint of self awareness.

"Nottingham Forest Are Premier League"
The Nuno Espirito Santo Rolling Scorecard 23/24 edition

Sheff. Utd. 1-3 Forest

An important away win as the lads dug in and got the job done. After looking poor early on to fall behind, the lads did well to equalise, although rode their luck on occasion to go in level. Forest looked a threat going forward against what was truly dreadful opposition, but the ease with which the hosts got easily got through our midfield to create chances was concerning.

Once they established a lead, the lads for once managed the game reasonably well to secure an important win, but despite the positive scrapping attitude shown, the reality was that the hosts are the worst PL team seen in many years and further improvement will be required for the WFCG finale next up.

Nuno cards a birdie to move to +4 on The Rolling Scorecard.

Trend (last 6 games): W, l, D, l, L, w.

I’m keeping Nuno.

However, if a change was coming, my prediction would be Eddie Howe. He’s not lasting the Summer out in Newcastle.

For what it’s worth, I can’t be doing with Howe so I hope that doesn’t happen.

TBF, he has said he won't know his best team until the end of the season.
I don't think that's a good question for a manager to answer. It can get players agitated if they aren't in the team and if he comes out and says it. I think he played it with a psychological and mindset bat.

This is a very good point.

Question is, did Marinakis employ him to keep us up, or push us on this season though?

Only Marinakis will know the answer to that.
We have pushed on this season though.

Cooper was given more progressive attacking players in the summer like CHO, Dominguez, Elanga but still ended up retreating into the low block.

It reminds me of these kids who spend time between various different care places because their parents aren't capable of anything and they often have like soft toys or blankets for comfort and Cooper was a bit like that, he'd try and step out of it for a bit but without the confidence of taking the setbacks with it and so we didn't really move on much after the start to the season. It was understandable that 1 win between September and December was only going to end one way.

Results may be about the same, maybe slightly better. But they would be even better if we had not had so many bad decisions from refs and VAR, so many squad places lost because of AFCON and injuries, as well as the points deduction which was on the cards at the time we brought in Nuno.

If a few of those losses with bad decisions had been draws (Liverpool for example) and maybe even some of the draws turned into wins, we'd be a lot higher up and this would be the case that we had pushed on this season.

But even taking that into account performances are much better. We don't just sit in the box any more and kick it to a fast lad. We are more competent on the ball, better at keeping play, better at creating opportunities if not maybe chances, chances and goals will come with a couple of additions and more work in pre season.

It was like last season after I think we lost to Villa where EM said he wasn't sacking Cooper but that results and performances had to improve. Results did, marginally, and probably helped by Taiwo coming back, performances didn't really, and didn't really this season either, can't really say he wasn't given the chance.

This season the only time we have been in the bottom 3 at the end of a game week is the points deduction and we got out of that again the next week.

The bottom 3 is weaker this season than last but actually our results against them were worse than last season. We beat Leeds and Leicester as well as Southampton twice but this season have only beaten Sheff Utd twice (though still have Burnley to play).

We finished 15th last year.

We can't finish any higher than 17th this year now.

Take away the points deductions, and we still can't finish higher than 15th.

Marinakis will not see that as pushing on. No way. Especially considering the extra investment.

Cooper also had to once again incorporate a bunch of new players into the side. It was obvious he was burnt out by the effort and as it stands our biggest problem is no settled side.

Look at our loss to Fulham this season. We started with 3 players who had been here the previous season.

Mangala, Toffolo and Felipe.

Against Sheffield we started 5. If I could be arsed to find out I bet our best results came when we had more players from last season in the squad.

So to sum up. Our recruitment needs to stop being so shit!

I think we all should remember the four points deduction and the amount of poor VAR decisions we have had this year. We would be in mid table.
That's exactly it. It's not as straight line as one being better than the other, there are so many variables and even by the admission of other supporters, clubs and pundits there has never been a season like this before. It just so happens we've been on the shitty end of both those issues.

Gotta stick with Nuno. He'll come good & has shown glimpses of us playing some great football like Wolves did.

We're always in games under him & a few tweaks here & there & I think we'll be more comfortable next season.

Been ridiculously unlucky with AFCON, refs & VAR and of course the points deduction.

He's improved CHO, Neco & Wood immeasurably.

Lopetegui looked a decent candidate but that ships sailed.

David Moyes has a good CV & record but he's so dour & his football so shit he'd make you depressed as f*** even if you're sitting mid-table. The City Ground would be like a morgue.

Stick with Nuno for me.

He perhaps hoped for a slight push but would absolutely have taken survival, which wasn't looking at all likely, whatever happened last year.

The fact that there haven't been any rumours of Nuno being under fire even though we have been teetering on the edge for a while confirms the expectations when the switch was made.

That not to say the big man's patience hasn't been tested.

That might become true in isolation, but the number of combinations he's played would suggest he's still tinkering.
