My concern with Dominguez is that we lack physical presence when he plays. He could be another one, like Freuler, who's just not suited to the Premier League.
He's another that would benefit from Sangare coming good really - I can imagine a three man of Sangare with Dom/Dani ahead, or a box with Dom and MGW ahead of two from the other three... Relies on Sangare getting right though which is a coin toss for me ATM.

Perhaps whether he's kept around depends on the plans of others, though I'm assuming Kouyate (and O'Brien) will be off and hoping that one /both from Morgan and Dani aren't.

you're dismissing ryan yates already ? Yates will still have a role to play next season. Now that he has opened his goals floodgate, he should be scoring more now.

Not dismissing - think he'll very much have a part to play, just that _if_ Sangare can get a grip if his attributes he's a better fit as a lone CDM. I see Yatesy more as a box to box type fwiw, and we'll very much need him again next year, just thinking more of a squad game since I think depth is severely light in most parts of our squad... more so the further forward you get.

If we want to play two in the middle of the park, we need a signing or two. Neither Dominguez or Yates are suited to a two at this level and the jury is very obviously out on Sangare.

I find Nico's trajectory at Forest quite baffling (though it's certainly not the only thing that defies logic in this absolute shitbag of a season). He was a lot of people's favourite player in autumn before tailing off a bit as most did towards the end of Cooper's reign. Then he started well for the first couple of months under Nuno too, played most games, scored goals. Not sure what happened since. I'm not sure why he can't play alongside Danilo, if that's the main reason.

My take with the last bit is that combined they aren't quite physical enough and lack in the air. They'd be ok in a three with another though then where does Morgan fit?

Aerially yeah I get that. Dom is no slouch in the tackle though surely.
He's good - nips in and works hard. He's not the strongest in my eyes though, so I suppose what I mean is while he and Dani can both tackle they're a bit featherweight.

Fwiw I think that pairing could work against the better footballing/less physical sides. Just not sure against the big strong lad ones, like Everton ironically (last time it was tried iirc, and a game that cried out for Yates).

Trying to balance the midfield to include an attacking midfielder with a free role alongside 2 wingers is the problem, and in the end it's what lead to Super Cooper's demise.

I think we should drop MGW a little deeper into a 3 and ask him to play with a bit more discipline. At the same time give him the freedom and leadership to change the shape in game. Dom could play alongside him easily enough. He's quality in my book.

I think that's been out plan b since Reyna has been at the club, not that we've reverted to it that often, probably because Reyna doesnt do anything like Morgan's defending from the front shift.

In terms of Morgan while I think he could do it I think you are missing too much from what he does playing in behind. It's a difficult one to accommodate I agree, but notable that Nuno solved Cooper's problem by sticking him behind that forward with the two wingers; it's where he's most effective.

What this means for Dominguez I'm not sure - at present he's probably competing with Danilo for his spot. I back Danilo there - we need his progressive passing. Rightly or wrongly I suspect Dom might be off this summer while we search for a someone to really compete with Sangare...

That the lad has been trying to play through a hernia, well, that’s only going to show how tough he actually is. Respect.

We seem to have had a number of players off for surgery or longer term injury this season. Hopefully it's all behind us, they regain their strength and appetite for the game and, as a team, we surge ahhead to the sunny uplands of the Premier League.
