Going down

Anyone who has supported Forest for anytime has seen us go up and down the Leagues. From Div III(S) through to the First Division, then down, then up, then down etc.

The Prem is just another League plus lots of money, the draw is the money. The idea that the whole League is world class is just hype. There are good players, but there are also average players playing with those good guys.

To be playing at the top level is fine, but to have a team to support is the best.

Ultimately I want us to stay in this league as I want us to win every game we play. But, this season has been a mentally draining and at times borderline unbearable. Where to start:

1) The sad end to the Cooper reign (probably had run it’s course) and all the feel good factor that went with his presence
2) Throwing away point after point from winning positions largely via set pieces
3) All of the off the field drama and the stress over points deductions, not to mention the appeals
and counter arguments
4) The fallout from the Season Ticket prices
5) The whole Everton tweet and all the debris from it.

All left a sour taste and us as fans bear the cost. No longer has football been an enjoyable release from everyday life. The on the field stuff I can cope with, but everything else off it has sapped my enjoyment and enthusiasm.
So you’ve renewed then? 🤣

Yeah, Cooper's presence alone lifted people because of what he had already achieved with us, and flushing all that away for absolutely no progress at all was incredibly short-sighted.

I'd fancied us to fly straight back up under Cooper....Nuno?.....more likely Mendes will load the squad full of Carvalho's lol.

But that's what tossers like Wolverine would rather have....people like Mendes using our club as a training facility for his players, rather than standing by genuinely decent people like Cooper who actually care about the community around us to the point they make low-profile visits to schools, and invite families of murder victims to the CG.

We've already been relegated in a way, because we've lost a core part of what made us a positive club again. The table is almost irrelevant.
You really just judge everything on Cooper, Marinakis has done loads for local communities but you constantly choose to ignore that.
Get over your Cooper fixation or go and "support" whoever he is managing now. Oh! That's nobody.

Marinakis? I've never mentioned him once. You speak about "fixation", then you shoehorn someone into the conversation who the conversation isn't about :ROFLMAO: Pot + kettle.

Tell me exactly what Mendes has done for our local communities?

I've not heard of anything, but maybe I've missed them.

Cooper was awesome, and I will continue to praise him for the legend he was until we get better. I have form.

Our fanbase are split down the middle it seems bewteen a desire to go down and win a few games or the suckers for punishment who want to stay up.

The idea that 'stay up or go down - what's your preference'? is even a serious talking point, is just ludicrous to me.

There is a small element of our fan base, that I don't think will ever be happy no matter what.

Personally I don't think anyone who is a serious fan would want the club to go down.

I would always want the best for my family, for them to achieve their potential - NFFC are part of that. The best is not 2nd tier, even if we win more games. The best is rubbing shoulders with the Nation's best, access to more funding to provide improvements to all facets of the club, access to seeing better players at CG, more incentive for our youth set up and female team to develop and go forward, more incentive for our next generation of supporters to experience the best in the UK. If that means being a mid table team, occasional relegation fights but occasuonally the highs of pushing up the table so be it.

Preston on a Tuesday night v Liverpool !

There is only 1 choice if you are a supporter in my view.

I know where you are coming from but I think some of those opinions are being impacted by the direction being taken off the pitch and tha circus that is VAR.

We have as good a bunch of players as I've seen at forest and no one really wants to lose that, it is just the baggage that is weighing people down

I get the sentiment of going back to the championship and I'd enjoy not having to worry whether a goal is going to stand when it shouldn't be much of a debate but ultimately we are just trying to get back to the Prem or else what is the point?

Talk sport summed up today when they did a 5 minute joke clip about Gerrard slipping over, then the female presenter started going on how funny it was when it was just pathetic.

5 mins later they did a 5 minute feature on Neil Maupay and what a great shithouse he is. They were revelling in it. So pathetic!

I don't think any fans really want us to go down however the appeal of being in the Prem is not there for a lot of fans. So with both the club being run by a complete moron, the fans being treated like shit and FFP and PGMOL debacle following a football team (any football team) in the prem is not much fun anymore. So in summary i've followed the club for 40 years and i've never been as uninterested as i am now.

Do we actually have fans who WANT to go down? Like they're pulling for us to get relegated? That's certifiably insane if so.

For my part I just think I'll feel a bit indifferent if we go down because I'm so disillusioned with the Premier League, VAR and the PGMOL. I absolutely want us to stay up, 100%, I just won't be bereft if we go down in the way I was in 1999, or even more so when we dropped into League One. It'll be very disappointing and not what I want, a huge let down, but I'd get over it before too long.

Actively wanting to go down though? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Probably would be far easier to stay up if players who cost 30 million were good enough make the starting side

I can't shake this feeling the greek kid has his fingers stuck deeply in recruiting and the FFP issue has a lot to do with that, Lingard was a waste and it has the owner's kid stank all over it

regardless, staying up is way preferable, without the brutal refereeing decisions and with a bit more finishing quality, the position in the table would be greatly improved, I don't think Nuno has the answer though - something is missing (confidence?).
