Just watching the highlights (again) and Grabban’s a wiley old fella, veers slightly in front of the chasing defender as he gets into the box so he has to slow or trip him, then veers the other way for the cross to arrive. Cunning old bugger.

    Oh FFS.

Whilst there was never any danger of me doing dry January, I certainly drank significantly more than my strict guidelines normally allow for on a Sunday.

As Tiff said the other day: "On the money".

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

Anyway, was a good night, and I ended up caring more than I thought I would. The only thing that was missing was a big Forza banner draped from the TE saying "This one will be for flogging us Carl Jenkinson"

Unpopular opinion: Mini pitch invasion was tinpotish.

But we had as much pressure as they did. I think every half chance or bit of pressure they had was shown as a highlight. Ours was the zink chance and the goal.

We did pretty well for the first 25 but for a couple of overhit passes we were in, lost our way towards half-time, as the manager correctly analysed. Second-half though we were the better side and deserved to go through, they had one good chance all match. The discipline from the team was superb. The manager looks to me the best we have appointed for a very long time, he talks sense to the media and so you expect he is talking sense to the players. We just need now better first half performances.

We upped it for a big game against good opposition. Good habit for the playoffs

Not often enough. I think the atmosphere is pretty crap a lot of the time.

Watched on tv and there was a lot to enjoy. For me one of the highlights was Roy Keane’s schoolmasterly spanking of both teams at half time. Clearly both teams went back to their classrooms and thought about what they’d done but only one team learned their lesson.

I'm going to be hyper critical but ... we would have been well ahead were BJ able to it a man in red more often. He's brilliant at getting clear of his man but not so great at finding a team mate once he's done so. The Zink opportunity on the second half was the only one he managed.

For a kid in his first full season I think that's definitely harsh.

    He's learning his trade still.

If his decision making was always on point and his final ball always well executed then he wouldn't be playing for us as he'd be a mid-table Premier League player at the minimum.
