I agree, as others have said 9 million is an insane ask, given the circumstances.

I'd explore all our alternatives and see if we like any of those deals and if so, get the word out to see if they flinch.

    £9m?
That’s just a random number dreamt up by some random individual.
    Of no relevance…

Donít even know why this particular value is still being entertained in discussion- clearly absolute bollocks

While I agree it's likely bollocks, it came from a Millwall journalist I think.

I think even asking for 4 million is too ambitious.

    Same.

Forest should be prepared to walk away if other clubs are taking the piss.

We'll have a lot of money available after the Brennan sale, and other clubs will try and extract as much as possible from us. A display which shows we still have upper limits which are very considered nips that extortion in the bud straight away.

We can always try for Wallace in summer if Millwall say no.

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

    Exactly.
Nottm Post quotes club as being prepared to accept £5m to take him off their hands.
And they split the difference - £2m

I imagine they were just showing off that they'd learnt to count to nine.

They have just signed Burke on loan.

    Getting closer?

Friday evening just before the Derby game wouldn't be a bad time to announce this one would it...

Spending on loan fees the £9m they'll be getting soon.

It's a poker game right now. I'd be inclined to go very quiet, let them consider £2m for a week and then chuck in a much improved £2.75m offer on 28 January. If they don't accept that, then they'll be cutting off their nose to spite their face.

We simply canít afford to get involved in nonsense like this. They will loose him on a free in the summer if they donít get a rapid dose of common sense

The very real prospect to lose him for nothing at the end the season isn't the type of brinkmanship I expect the Millwall owner(s) to sanction, despite Rowett's stance.

10 days in the January window is an awful long time for them to hold out.
They will come to their senses eventually.
Though PL clubs may be saying the same about us re Brennan.

The difference being: Johnsonís contract is for 18 months whilst Wallace can do a deal for the Summer now.

Yes and get ready for the same bollocks and brinkmanship with Brennan when the vultures really start circling next year. In some ways it would be a relief for him to go now and pocket the 18M rather than have to put up with all of this for 9 months, accompanied by the inevitable loss of form due to the distraction...

DIfference is that 18 months or 1 year we'll still surely be looking at the same kind of fee for Brennan and while Wallace may want out Brennan is one of our own and a potentially key figure in our play-off push and who knows maybe a place in the PL next season.

I think this will happen next week, itíll be an undisclosed fee so Milwall can claim we paid a crazy fee for him but I imagine itíll be around 2/2.5M total.

Signing Burke is a direct replacement for outgoing Wallace.

Will Unwin suggesting that Millwall will not play ball - even on deadline day.

Time will tell - perhaps they have an offer outside the Championship.

May be time to move to plan B - or at least threaten them with this.

Time to get Oly to sign a pre contract with him and then transfer to Forest in the summer.

There is more than one way to skin a cat.

Well fuck 'em, I mean this is Jed Wallace not Lewandowski... the only reason for us to pay over the odds for anyone is if we're convinced they are the player that WILL propel us into the play-offs and hopefully beyond. Short of actually buying Lewandowski no-one is guaranteed to do that and with the best will in the world Wallace is a decent player but no more, so we move on...

Unwin is now taking time out to defuse our links with just about anyone who has been the subject of a rumour ( however unlikely ).
    The latest being Longstaff.
