I reckon the admin team know what they are doing rather more than I do, so in admin I trust.

Mind you, they could be wrong.

    Just covering all the bases.

In such cases the option to renew the contract usually belongs to the club.

There should no question that he's way better than Bong. As I said, he was heavily linked with AEK in the summer (but they opted for another target of yours, Milan Mohammadi), and AEK have a DoF with good connections in France and Switzerland. They managed to sign midfielder Steven Zuber, also a Swiss international, who's a very tidy player.

It's a shame French midfielder Julien Feret has retired.

They should be coached by Ralph Hasenhuttl.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

This is a thread about Benito, nobody carrots all about rabbits.

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

Was just reading that we offered him a contract until the end of season and he turned it down.

Benito was asked if he'd enjoyed his time with Forest and he said very much so. Watching with 28,000 fans in the second division was impressive, he said.

Still wasn't enough to get him to put pen to paper unfortunately.

Maybe wanted a longer term deal? More likely to be offered one elsewhere in Jan.

Was quite looking forward to this one.

    I blame Congo.

Have to say I don’t understand the logic of offering a deal until the end of the season alone. If he’s good enough he’s worth that plus a year, if he’s not then send him on his way

Could have been any number of reasons, such as prove yourself worthy of a new deal, or putting him the shop window for summer, maybe he only wanted a few months. My feeling is that he is holding out for a bundasliga move in Jan. (which is watched more by Swiss)and gives him a better chance of call-up

Probably-don't know anything about his specific circumstances but it does seem a bit bizarre that he spent a fair bit of time here and then spaffed off a contract offer. As you say probably something else in the offing as he certainly looks too good a player to be "out of work" (particularly when we've got Bong stealing a living)

If he hasn’t signed it’s because we didn’t cave in to his demands. This is a positive sign from the club that we didn’t just give him what he wanted. Now we can reinvest his probable high wages into a young improving player with value. A player willing to work their way into the team and not just expect to start.

Some players can look like world beaters in training then turn to absolute dog meat on a Saturday afternoon. How many times have we seen loan players come in and play their hearts out, only to be signed at the end of the season and they slip back to being dross? We all sit here and bitch and moan about the 'bomb' squad, yet you want to hand out long term deals to a guy who hasn't played competitive football in god knows how long who has never kicked a ball in the Championship. Throw in to that the club have told him he will be used as cover till Max Lowe returns (which is meant to be ahead of schedule according to DT).

Plenty of logic there to understand.

Maybe we have preferred targets who only become available in the summer...

All true of course, and as I said I don't really know much about this guy so I am happy to defer to those that have watched him more carefully.
Only thing I would come back on is the assertion that I want to "hand out long term deals"...I wouldn't consider the final half of this season and an additional year as long term. It really boils down to whether hes viewed as a quality player by those that have been looking at him-if he justifies signing at all I think 6 months is very short and if I were an established international I would probably think twice before committing to a few months somewhere, particularly if there were a few other irons in the fire. Not sure that's "long term" just balance.

Anyway,Lowe is due to come back from his injury assuming he isn't recall by his parent club. We probably need to find a new backup
