Default Christmas 2021. Show us yer baubles!

Normally the Geordie puts our tree up on Dec 1st. Due to commitments next week, she's done ours today.

She's asked me to post pictures on here of her efforts. Take note of the rockabilly vintage baubles.

    Mrs. Blonde is right.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Ours was supposed to go up today but I’ve been too busy to get everything out of the loft. Not sure how long I can stretch it out for though..

Your palms are holding her neck and thumbs are at her ears regulating the speed of her head as she swallows and then sucks up your machinery. She is topping up your engine oil for the cross-country coming up. Your RPM is hitting a new high. To wait any longer would be to lose prime time... She picks up a Bugatti's momentum. You want her more at a Volkswagen's steady trot. Squeeze the maximum mileage out of your gallon of gas. But she's eating up the road with all cylinders blazing.

I've been to busy either making Christmas cakes (6 out of 8 done so far) and being a voodoo doll for the NHS to think about putting up decorations yet.

Tell your better half that the tree looks very nice though.

This is my favourite thread already.

Christmas decorations went up last week at home and I’ve been adding bits and bobs to them all week.

Christmas cakes and sweet treats are all wrapped up and today after a morning of shopping, I enjoyed hot chocolate with Baileys in front of the log fire watching Elf.

    Perfect.

I think 'odd' is a good thing. Oddness shows originality, uniqueness and a desire to be different from the masses. Oddness is, maybe, only deemed 'odd' by the majority who are considered less odd but only by their own blinkered observations and understanding. Oddness should never be criticised but be encouraged to nurture, develop individualism and to explore the mind rather than conform to expectation and 'normality'. Many of the world's greatest works of art and prose were born from those minds many considered to be 'odd'.

    We're skipping Christmas this year.

Which will probably mean I get home from a dog walk to find the missus has plastered the house in decs at some point.

Anyone else got the Forest bauble pack from the club shop? A pack of three one silver, one gold and one red? I got them and stick them on every year to my missuses dismay

I hear that, had Hughton stayed, we were going to release a Forest Bored-ble pack.

    Sorry.

The conflict started this morning for me. I normally actively resist anything Christmas related until the week before but the inner five-year old got the better of me early this year.

Walked through the 'covered market' in Oxford earlier and before I knew what was happening I was humming 'stop the cavalry' and loading up on foreign chocolate and fancy cheese. I only went in as a shortcut to the toilets on the other side.

I've been wearing a Santa hat this afternoon. I found it whilst digging out my Christmas jumpers

Fetching the real tree for the lawn in front of the house on Wednesday morning.
The illuminated reindeer and the outside ligts all going Wednesday afternoon.
    Indoors will happen Thursday.

The photos everyone has been posting are brilliant... I didn't realise how many creative, right of centre, middle class bourgoisee were on the forum (Only joking emoji here... but I refuse to use emojis).

Not much to see as it is freezing out here in the sticks.

Christmas hasn’t been the same for a while but the season always makes me happy. The glum weather, the cheerful music and the amazing food, all lovely. Also, TBT, lovely pictures.

As for my family tho, this time of the year hasn’t been too kind to us over the past few years.

Count your blessings folks but I don’t need to tell you that, I think the millions of family’s without a grandparent or parent at the dinner table during the holidays makes it obvious enough.

Just done my good deed for today! I’ve just come back from Sainsbury’s where I was behind an old lady in the queue. Her bill came to £56.83, but when she counted out all her change, she only had just under £50. I thought she’s someones Mum and I’d like to think someone would help my Mum in that situation as Christmas is just around the corner.

She didn’t want me to help her, but I insisted, and in no time we had all her shopping back on the shelves……
