Default Re: Winter 2022 Transfer Window

The first objective of the January window should be not to panic buy.

The squad that we have now is more than capable of avoiding the drop and that's probably now the main goal of the season as top six feels like a pipedream, even at this early stage. So, with a squad capable of staying up that (almost) cannot catch up with the play-off race, the focus really needs to be on next season, and so any signings we make need to consider how the squad is going to look next year - ie, it 100% won't have James Garner in it nor Zinckernagel, and there are big question marks on whether Forest will have a recognised left back (Bong will be released, Lowe may not be available), a striker (Grabban may be let go as deemed to old and Taylor may want a move) and also a leader (if Worrall is sold and Yates doesn't retain his first team status).

So we could be looking at a medium-term template of:

    GK: Samba, Horvath
    RB: Back, Richardson
    RCB: Mbe Soh, Fernandes
    LCB: McKenna, Harbottle
    LB: ?, ?
    DM: Ojeda, Yates
    DM: Fornah, ?
    RW: ?, Lolley
    AM: ?, Carvalho
    LW: Mighten, Silva
    ST: ?, ?, Swan

    Assumes:
    1) None of the loanees return
    2) Colback, Cafu, Bong, Grabban leave on frees.
    3) Taylor, Drager, Worrall and Johnson are sold to raise funds- up to £25m for all four, part of which is used as reinvestment.

So will probably need seven or so players heading into next season, a mix of first choice and back up players. Of the positions we'll need there is no pressing need currently to fill any of those spots. Right wing looks the only slot that could be added to if the right player is available for the right price as there's question marks over Lolley still and Zinckernagel seems more suited to the left side. But, it's not imperative.

So, back to the main point: No need to panic. A successful window could simply be as bland as finding Colback and Bong loan deals.

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

Murphy seems to like bidding for players in the last year of their contracts, and reports suggest Cooper will have money to spend in January.

So if we pick up a couple of targets of Murphy and Cooperís type for fair fees, that would do me. Loans are probably off the table, so as long as we donít bring in any over the hill rubbish (I donít think we will) and keep moving the squad towards what Murphy wants, Iím happy.

One other area to keep an eye on: the US market. Both Murphy and Cooper did loan business from the MLS last January. If Osei-Tutu keeps getting injured, I wouldnít be surprised to see an American come in on loan.

£40 a wank at Fei Oriental. That'll sort 'em out.

If only Dane could work some magic and convince Daryl Dike to come here like he did at Barnsley, he'd be a cracking fit for us. Sadly Orlando don't seem interested in loaning him out again and want to try and get a fee for him, which I can't see them getting considering they value him at £18m and also want future sell on bonuses included in any deal

Kill two birds with one stone - make the administrators a decent offer for Buchanan and include Bong as part of the deal maybe even offer to sub part of his wages - so Derby get money for selling but still have a player (if you can call him that) and even better he's already a lower league player!! Its a win-win-win I tell ya!!

Coopers track record of working with young players will see us working the loan market again for young talent. He's very highly regarded and trusted because of his work with the Liverpool academy and England youth teams. He also had success with Rhian Brewster and the other lad from Chelsea (his name escapes me).

Given that potential for good young premier league talent and some cash to spend we could be looking a strong second half to the season. Let's hope we can pull away from the bottom now as a start to that.

18m?!? Crikey. Think they're asking a bit much there. I'd have that as the price for a Prem club to play and, whilst he grew into last season nicely, I wouldn't say he looked a Prem player like Cash did when he was peaking with us.

Of course you pay partly for potential too, but I think they'll be lucky to get that amount.

Definitely, for context Liverpool value Origi at a similar price (ok he's 5 years older at 26 but he has the benefit of prem experience). Feel like 9m would be a reasonable price tag for Dike especially if they're also expecting a future sell on %

I thought they wanted 20m USD for Dike, which is a shade under 15m quid.

Still too steep for us anyway.

Yeah they quoted something silly, I'm sure as part of the loan Barnsley had the option at $20m or something. The MLS season runs April till November so maybe there is an option in January.

Too steep for us yes, but he is worth the £15m they want for him.

Dike is the real deal, he will play at the top level easily. He really did carry Barnsley the second half of last season and that was him coming in with minimal first team experience.

Did you even watch him mate.

Barnsley fans were resigned to him not playing for them after this season after his first 2 games.

Strong, powerful, good finisher - he has got it all. He is like Drogba, but he is much better than Drogba was at the same age.

According to Turkish media, you and we are both interested in FenerbahÁe's 21-year-old left back Ferdi Kadıoğlu (born and raised in the Netherlands, of obviously Turkish decent). 2 goals and one assist in 7 appearances this season.

Correction: not a left back. Mostly left midfielder, has also played on the right, or as a midfielder, or even as an attacking midfielder.

Daryl Dike was a top quality signing for Barnsley.

He said he enjoyed the Championship too, as it made him a better footballer. The physicality and demands of it.

If he signed for us on loan, or someone else of that ilk, we'd be looking massively dangerous in attack with Grabban on form too.

From rarely even getting a semi-on at the base as a Forest fan, I am now frequently aroused straight to the tip.

    Full lob on incoming.

    Flaccid Johnson be gone.

Evidence suggests it isn't Boris, in any case.
