    Just saw this pop-up.

„Saint and Greavsie“ was essential watching, even for those of us who never saw Jimmy play in his pomp.

    RIP Jimmy.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Never quite forgave you for that goal at Hilsborough in 67,but a great footballer and as Rocka said a Gentleman, scorer of some fantastic goals. I may be wrong about this but I seem to recall rightly or wrongly that he scored on every debut he made.

He always loved plying Forest because he always got goals against us. From memory he scored a hatful against in his final game for Chelsea before he went to Italy.
But still one of the greats.

He scored more goals against Forest than any other team so he obviously loved playing against us but his record speaks for itself. GREAT GREAT player.

Used to be a great mate of my barber in Chelmsford. Very bouncy every time I saw him, just like his persona on the field and in the studio.

Fine footballer, too. I remember the furore when he lost his place during the World Cup '66.

    Remembered with genuine pleasure.

    A perfect summery Gary.

I've posted on here previously that Jimmy was the finest centre-forward I've been privileged to see play live. Unfortunately, the vast majority of those occasions were against us when, quite literally, he was our personal nemesis, to the point that I'd be hugely surprised if he scored more goals against any other club, for both Spurs and Chelsea.

For me I reckon Jimmy is second behind only Cloughie for old legends of the game.

Aye Frank... sadly I was too young to have seen Jimmy play.

Its a shame there are so few videos of him playing - but those that you find show him to be an incredible goalscorer.

It's a futile argument often to consider if the likes of Pele was better than Maradona etc but when you look at his poise and balance and then consider those pitches and the difference in the balls in the modern game you can only imagine how good he would have been if he was playing today.

If I'm honest it looks like Cloughie saying "No really, I am the better goalscorer" and Greavsie trying to find a way of saying "I hear what you're saying Brian....but"

Actually Cloughie considered Greaves to be the best of all time

Jimmy's ability to pass the ball into the net was uncanny. Everything was done with speed and grace, and his first-touch was exceptional. Centre-halves in the '60s were uncompromising and often brutal, but few could get anywhere Greavesie, a bloke of small-stature compared with most of them. With type of protection forwards largely receive in the modern-game, he'd be unplayable.

Jimmy Greaves broke my heart as a schoolboy against Forest but what a great player-probably the best post war
    English goalscorer.
    RIP Jimmy.

What a sad indictment on modern society
