Default Daniel Taylor Twitter Rant Thread

He’s off on one again. Have a look at ‘tweets and replies’ on his profile for the goss.

Has a particular beef with Jonny Owen.

    Hmmmm.

There's a few digs, but I thought there was some encouraging stuff in there too.

Good on him. He was bang on with Vrentroz and if he feels the same about Owen then I'm more inclined to believe it than disbelieve it.

Ah, OK, my bad, I thought he was a Forest fan before entering the board.

Nope, his birds from Nottingham so he lives here and was involved in the miracles film, that’s how he is linked to the club.

    Does any of this matter?
I mean is Owen doing anything behind the scenes we need to
    know about?.
To me he’s an irrelevance. And I’m particular Dane isn’t going to tolerate free loaders who don’t see the “true north” so he’ll be gone if he’s a problem?

One thing I’ve learnt is Twitter is a horrible medium. It brings out the worst in people (in 300 characters)

Was he? Some of his accusations (bad football decisions, foul temper, too hands-on treatment of the football department) may well be true, either because of observable results or because of what I knew from over here). DT, however, has also consistently painted a picture of Vrentzos running the club (as a business) in a completely unprofessional, almost disastrous manner. This is at odds both with observable results (club accounts, ability to attract managers with a good reputation in the Championship, not the slightest hint of mismanagement, delayed payments, Mel Morris shenanigans etc.), and, again, from the results over here.

And what does "I will write it all at some point" mean? Why not now? What's stopping him? He obviously doesn't mind tarnishing the club's image, so why not write the whole ugly truth now?

Perhaps I'm being overly suspicious because of journalistic attitudes over here, but whenever I see "I will write it all at some point", I read some kind of calculated threat in the subtext.

Isn't his bird Nottingham's own and arguably more successful then him Vicky Mcclure?

    I guess we'll find out.

    Agree with Twitter.

I was referring to the footballing side of things.

And who knows why. Maybe he's getting noshed off?

    Time will tell I guess.

    He isn't, though.

Anyway, on hindsight it was a grave mistake by EM to believe that a football club in the Championship could be ran like Olympiacos. He should have put up a Dane Murphy type structure from day one (or, perhaps, after, say, the first year). The needs are completely different, and therefore the approach should have been different.

Many of the things that seem to annoy Taylor -too many voices on the decision-making table of the football department, ruthlessness, complete unacceptability of defeat, media manipulation- are quite normal, even necessary, over here. They are neither over there.

Aye. I'd say that the Warburton-McP setup which EM actually inherited wasn't a million miles away from that structure though tbh.

So I don't think he even had to put it in place as such, he just had to give it the precious commodity of time.

Yes but she's a Notts County fan I believe, although her character in Line of Duty is a Forest fan or at least her son in it is.

Owen wasn't a replacement for Metgod. The truth is that JO came on board with an entirely different brief long before Metgod moved-on to take up a highly-lucrative coaching-role in the middle east.

It would appear that anyone at Forest is a moving target these days for Danny. I'm surprised he isn't still banging-on about the "Miracle Gates" not being erected.

Who's he had it in for other than Vrentroz & now Owen? Was there anyone else?

I genuinely can't think of anyone at the mo, but I could be wrong?

The Jonny Owen think I've always found a little strange.

Bloke makes a film about our glory years and then a while later is appointed onto the board with no previous experience.

He was never a fan of Mark Arthur either.

    But then, who was?

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

To be fair, we have no idea about what his role on the board actually entails. It could simply be they like having his input in the creative/media side of things and nothing with regards to the footballing side of things.

I know I thought he was full of it with the opening statement to supporters and said "Commodity of Time", ahem, "promise".

At what point do people take valid criticism as "having it in for someone"?

Vrentzos has been in charge of a completely embarrassing shit show, just because he gets the big man to pay the bills on time i wouldn't paint that as a success. And managers will go where the money is if they're out of work..

He had a pop at Nick Randall in one of his previous rants.

I don't know any specific details, but I'm aware of a past "disagreement" of some sort between Owen and Taylor surrounding the film and its accompanying book.
