    Default Josh Laurent

Everybodys favoured Twitter journalist linking us with a move for Reading POTS Josh Laurent. Midfielder, 26, year left on his contract.

Reading are fucked financially. I love to see us picking the bones of teams that try to buy success.

They apparently wanted £8m not long ago, even with a year left on his contract I'd imagine they'd want at least half of that. Doesn't feel very likely.

He had a year in League Two with Hartlepool, then three in League One with Bury and Shrewsbury before moving to Reading on a free aged 25.

Exactly the type of profile we wouldn't have given a chance in recent years.

More chance of Yves St. Laurent.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Had a great game at the 'Mad Stad' when they beat us last Christmas-time, absolutely bossed it.

Throw in Swift & Ejaria as well?

    From the Athletic

Nottingham Forest have tested Reading’s resolve over Josh Laurent but are not yet understood to have matched the price tag their Championship rivals have on their midfielder, reports Paul Taylor.

The Athletic understands that at least one seven-figure offer has been made for the 26-year-old, who was their player of the season last time out.

It remains to be seen whether Forest will up the ante again for Laurent, who signed for Reading from Shrewsbury on a free transfer in the summer of 2020, before going on to start all but one of their league games, while scoring three goals.

Forest do have more than one target in midfield, with their desire to bring James Garner back to the City Ground for a second loan spell from Manchester United already well known.

Laurent has played for eight clubs since coming through the youth ranks at QPR, including spells at Braintree, Brentford, Newport, Hartlepool, Wigan and Bury.

He signed a two year deal with the Berkshire club last summer and Forest — along with Glasgow Rangers, who are also said to be interested — will hope that the fact that he has only 12 months left to run on his deal could persuade Reading to do business.

It's a shame we still seem to be ignoring League One and Two this summer. Surely there's some players down there who are affordable and will improve us. The club should be trying to sign the next Josh Laurent rather than trying to prize away the current one from another Championship team who will be reluctant to let him go cheaply.

I don't think we are ignorining it, it is just there is genuinely not much left to be had.

Wonder if us going for this guy in the last few days means we're not confident of getting Garner back (perhaps the reports of him going to Sheff Utd are true?)

It's nice to finally be linked with players where the fans of their current club are gutted to see him go.

I'm not saying he won't, but are there definitive "reports" that Garner is "going" to the Blunts.

All I've seen are reports suggesting they've joined the race to secure his loan signing, nothing beyond that.

Hands off warning from Reading. Manager defiant that
    @JoshLaurent28
is going nowhere despite interest from #nffc. #Readingfc highly confident Laurent will continue to be a key part of Royals’ plans.

Not sure a "hands off" warning holds much weight when you're scrimping for every penny under umbongo

May as well put a "For Sale" ad out

He probably won't be at Reading come the end of the window, but I don't see us being able to afford him. Probably end up at a parachute payment club.

How this works is that when NFFC say hands off we sell within a week, or just as the seasons starting so we can’t replace them.

If another club says hands off to NFFC then that’s the end of it.

I want to know if Mark Arthur spoken to the player and if he told him he wants to come.

    Laurent started for Reading oday.
Not the act of a club wanting to sell, or a player wanting to leave.
I doubt we will lure him to Trentside.

I mean Burke, Antonio probably many others have done the same from us to other clubs. I don't think you can read much into that at the minute.

I can remember Tommy Smith tearing us apart for Watford beating us 3-1 then signing for Portsmouth next day.
If I remember right Billy Davies was manager & Mcgugan fractured his cheekbone.

Perhaps but Reading can't even fill their bench so I doubt they'd leave him out any way.
