End of an era. The band that held the record for recording and touring with the same line-up (since 1969). A great bass player and a sad loss.

    Oh God no.

I love that lil old band from Texas.

    This makes me sad

I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism

Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.

A frankly superb trio of musicians, who had the same lineup since 1969 (a record verified by Guinness!)

Been lucky enough to see them three times, and Ive got pretty much everything they released.

Ive just stuck on Tejas, and am having a beer in memory of The Dust.

Truly a sad event in Blues.
Not old by any means taken too soon.

I can never see zz top without thinking about an old harmonica playing mate of mine who introduced me to them. "You've got to listen to this band" he said.
    RIP Dusty.

Tonight I will be clumsily plunking along with Dusty's simple but classy bass line on Blue Jean Blues. RIP.

Interesting story about how he went to work at an airport in the 70s while Frank Beard was working through his drug problems. What a guy.

Frank Beard said that following the conclusion of the Worldwide Texas Tour, he received a cheque for the (modern-day equivalent of ) $340,000 and he blew every cent of it on drugs.

It was during this famous hiatus that Dusty Hill and Billy Gibbons (who himself, had taken off on a trip around Europe) both grew their impressive chest-length beards.
