Love how up for competing Jennifer is as in her interview afterwards she said the following

"I'm first reserve for the floor finals, so I may be able to take a spot and if she [Simone Biles] drops out last minute I will be ready to go."
I really enjoyed watching this competition, some superb performances on display and as you say, so good to see the Gadirova twins doing well.

Special shout out to the Brazilian gymnast Rebecca Andrade, who put in a frankly astonishing performance to take the silver medal; this is an athlete who has come back from not one, but three serious cruciate ligament injuries to compete at the highest level, who was possibly the most consistent gymnast in the competition and who, bar a couple of steps out-of-bounds on the floor, would probably have won Gold.

Did I mention, she’s Brazil’s only proper gymnast, the Brazilian team is effectively her, and, well, nobody else.

That’s the Olympic spirit, right there.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Who will win the men's 100m do we think? With Christian Coleman banned there are no outstanding contenders.

Trayvon Bromell would be my tip but could be a really fun 100m men’s final. I cannot see a clear number one contender who is fancied to blow the field away.

Blessing Okagbare failed a drug test and is out of the 100m. She'd have been one of the finalists, couldn't really see her being a serious contender for gold even if with the human growth hormone. But she's gone.

The US failed to win a rowing gold for the first time since 1908. That should make us feel better.

Bromell has the same coach, and is part of the same training group in Florida.

Ivory Coast, 2-1 up, after scoring in added time. Spain chuck former Forest Legend Mir in and 30 seconds later, the man delivers 2-2.

Pedri must have played about 65 games this season. Mad.

Djokovic has thrown a racket into the stands, smashed one against the net post and pulled out of the doubles bronze medal match. Bellend.

Dina going to have to hope she is a fastest loser to qualify for the final then

Now to can worry. She'll be lucky if that's not it for the 100m. Doesn't look fast enough for fastest loser time.

More of a concern, that can't help her state of mind for the 200m.

    Mir at the double.

    Gutted for Asher-Smith.

Only three years until Paris, but this could have been her time. She'd have had the 200m, I think.

Ennis missed Beijing when she was World Champ and came back to win in 2012. But it's a long way off.

Because they're embarrassed about being German

Mostly because the pride is from ones‘ Lande first, and the Federal State second.

    Baden-Württemberg is the best, anyway.

Felt a bit for the Brit girl who came last in the women's 100m, however she's young & sounded upbeat when interviewed

Hopefully she'll be closer to the medals in 3 years

She did brilliantly to get to the final. Broke 11s for the first time at the Olympics. Can't ask for more than a PB at the Games. She's now second fastest Brit all time. Ten years ago no British women had run under 11s.
