    Default Jordan Hugill

Linked with 29 year old Norwich City striker. 4 goals last season. Moved to West Ham for £9M in 2018 from Preston.

Asked my Norwich supporting mate about him. His comments,

"Good striker. Plays second fiddle to Pukki but offers us something different. Would be surprised if we let him go to be honest".

I know the validity of this link has been questioned elsewhere, but if there is anything in it, he'd potentially offer a physicality that we haven't had up-top for some time.

Something which might enable us to get the best out of Grabban or Taylor for another season. If we play with 2 up front.

Can't imagine his salary will be low though.

Those stats are somewhat skewed as he only made 7 starts. He played second fiddle to Pukki.

Your palms are holding her neck and thumbs are at her ears regulating the speed of her head as she swallows and then sucks up your machinery. She is topping up your engine oil for the cross-country coming up. Your RPM is hitting a new high. To wait any longer would be to lose prime time... She picks up a Bugatti's momentum. You want her more at a Volkswagen's steady trot. Squeeze the maximum mileage out of your gallon of gas. But she's eating up the road with all cylinders blazing.

Would be no problem if we stuck him on the left wing. Although having been dead for over 60 years may lead some to question his lack of movement.

I can just imagine Hughton trying to sell this one to Murphy now .

Not overly enamored by this link, never been hugely impressed whenever I have watched him play. However if it is a season long loan, with no long term commitments, I would be more in favour.

Get the feeling this one is just an agent trying to drum up interest. Doesn't feel like the kind of signing the new set up would target at all.

I'm just waiting for it to break I the Press that we are linked with. " OG ". He has been more prolific than all the others we have been linked with.

Jordan Hugiill is a " Donkey " in terms of footballing ability but if we can find a good " provider " alongside him he does know where the net is but he isn't very effective without good assistance

A record of 22 goals in 107 Championship games in the last 3 years.

    Prolific.

    He'll do. Get him in.

    I don't remember O'Grady scoring that many.

Don't forget most of his time at Norwich he was backup, to the best striker in the division, who seems to hardly ever miss a match. So most of his Norwich apps are probably sub.

15 in 41 for QPR wasn't that bad.

And there has to be something which made West Ham pay 10m for him, after only a couple of seasons at Preston.

Don't forget a target man's job is not always to score goals himself but to create chances for others. In the age of 1 up front, this is your wingers and attacking midfield players. If the plan with Grabban is to play him more withdrawn as a 10 then this could see him getting a lot just finishing off what Hugill brings down.

Hughton will be in charge of signings now and if he wants the player then he will know what to do with him. And I'd much rather trust the manager, his process, and his signings given his record.

Hughill started in 9 of those 34 appearances for Norwich; he came off the bench for the rest of the games - he scored 4 goals from those 9 starts.

His record at QPR was 15 in 41 games and at Preston it was 23 in 103 games; his only bad season was at Boro where he scored 7 in 41

To be fair there’s very few strikers who are effective without assistance.

For once I’d like us to put our eggs in one basket and buy someone with a genuine goal scoring record at the right age rather than another “turning water into wine” project that never works out.
When we have done that in the past-Sheringham, Collymore, Van Hoijdonk it usually works….

To check goal scoring records you really need to check goals per minute more than anything else. There can be a player who scored 1 in 90 games but he always gets 1 minute as a sub a game, so his record is 1 in 90 minutes.

So you do need to check his goals per minute ratio.
