Not having a pop at you Cloughie, but I think it's probably a bit unfair to judge the current management against BC.

    Merely agreeing with Gandalf,Otis.
Forest must be one of the worst clubs in the football league for not utilising resources-the so called 'bomb
squad' can't all be bad players.
I don't suppose the constant manager churn helps the situation.

    You read it here first.
I think the concern is more that we are struggling to sign anyone with the season just around the corner rather than our failure to sign this chap specifically. We have lost 13 players since last season finished with a further 4 or 5 in the bomb squad, having struggled against relegation last season. I am not sure why the suggestion that we might be in a bit of bother if we don't recruit some players soon seems to such a controversial opinion on here.

Bong is shite, but again, if he is your back up left back surely that is more valuable than nothing. Then there are the likes of Harry Arter, you're telling me he isn't good enough to be at least in the squad?
    B) Sending out Ian on loan when he was actually ok and never really got a fair crack.
I definitely agree that Ioannou (and now seemingly Blackett) were binned too quickly. We should have waited until we got a new left back in before getting rid of either. As much as I'd rather not see Bong or Jenkinson again, if we haven't got new full backs in we should consider using them. I don't know what the situation is with Arter, but on paper he should at least be in the match day squad.

Because rather than people expressing concern they are using expressions like 'don't have a 'pot to piss in' and 'heading towards relegation' which at this stage is a massive over reaction and is totally unnecessary at this time unless you want to wallow in doom and gloom.

Someone somewhere posted a list of all the Championship transfer activity. There hasn't been much money exchanged, it's mostly frees and none of it looks particularly earth shattering. We're in that pack.

Put in 3 bids and even offered them players but they want several million

Well, then either Forest pony-up, or the player himself agitates for a move.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

We probably offered Bong, which pushed the price up to several million.

I think it's time to take the line that if he's not that keen, we're not that keen and look elsewhere.

Apparently the player is willing to make the move but his club are holding out as they value him higher than we're willing to offer, I still think there's a good chance we'll get this one done

What players could we offer that Fortuna could possibly afford, wage-wise, and want, ability-wise?

    Bachirou maybe? Ioannou?

    Its not him.

    He seems very interested.

    Its his team.

The figures are obviously not 100% accurate but to give perspective their highest paid player is on £6k a week and their average is about £2200 (Flemming is on £2k)

Not sure what players we have who'd be willing to take such a drastic pay cut really, even shite like Bong and Jenkinson are on >15k a week

In my opinion I think we know we can get him so we're just being stubborn with a low £ + player offer which makes sense from our side of things, ultimately they've made it clear they aren't interested in a deal that includes players so I imagine we'll pay up and get the deal done sooner than later

If we offer Bong or Jenkinson, I'd imagine we would pay the balance of their wages and it will save NFFC £2/£4k per week

    They’re a Dutch club lads.

Forest probably said „Do you want Bong?“ to which the Dutch side replied „hey, no, we have our own! We’re from Holland, don’t you know?“

Sittard isn’t in Holland, it’s in Limberg.

To be fair to them, if I was them I'd want several million just to take our bomb squad of our hands, regardless of Flemming being part of the deal.

If the player wants the move and the owning club are prepared to sell then you have to think it's just a matter of time before an agreement is reached. Both buying and selling club will simply hold out for the best deal for themselves, as they should.

I’ve worked there many times. Spent 3m running a project for a famous company based in that fine city. Lovely part of the world, and the only bit of the Netherlands with any sort of hills.

(The „I’m from Holland…“ joke is Austin Powers‘ nemesis, Goldmember)

Not necessarily Maxi, although the amount of press “airing” the proposed transfer is getting suggests his agent (and therefore the player) is pushing very hard.
I think this ones 50:50, but I think Forest are right to stick to their guns on it. £1M represents a very substantial profit on what they paid a short time ago so they are hardly being ripped off.
