We dodged a molotov cocktail with that one, never heard him doing anything with his career after.
Apparently runs a fruit & veg shop now...

I don't care who sold McClown down the river, best club decision ever (apart from hiring Cluff), genius.

He needed drowning in a river. USELESS ****.

I'd like to think of a witty James Bond reference for Schteve McClaren, but he's more Goldmember (from Austin Powers) than Goldfinger.

Not in the Squad for today's Friendly against Dordrecht, a sign that he's on the move and they don't want to risk him?

Think they must've played two friendlies yesterday, he played in the other one against SV Straelen and scored a brace.

In my opinion I think we know we can get him so we're just being stubborn with a low £ + player offer which makes sense from our side of things, ultimately they've made it clear they aren't interested in a deal that includes players so I imagine we'll pay up and get the deal done sooner than later
I'm glad we're not throwing money at it willy-nilly, but flippingheck it wouldn't half be nice to have all the toss off the wage bill and all the money we spent on them back in the bank instead.

That’s a new thought mate, you’ve never mentioned that before?

Site is on the swear filter.

Is thks the story that says we’ve given up on him as too expensive? We made three bids apparently.

Yes, it said we'd made 3 bids and given up as they wanted too much so we were moving on to different targets. Sensible, I'd say.

His signing will probably be announced on Monday then.

Sensible from us, no point paying over the odds and eating into whatever kitty we have for one player. Every player has a price but they've priced him out of this one. For the number 10 position, I'd be happy to go into the season with Carv and Johnson as our options anyway.

It might be good going forward anyway. Shows we won’t just be bent over the table and cave in to clubs demands. I imagine the player will be pissed off with this.

It doesn't feel like we are short in the area he plays. If we saw Joao or Johnson move out it would make more sense to push for it, but it would seem like excess as the current squad stands.

We could probably do with one more. We currently have 5 players for 3 positions:

    RW:
    Zinck
    Lolley

    LW:
    Mighten

    CAM:
    Johnson
    Carvalho

I know Johnson and Zinck can play either wing or centrally but ideally we need one more. Konate showed he’s probably still a little too green to push for a spot this season IMO.

My guess is they've seen enough in Johnson now to think the dutch guy isn't needed (at the prices being quoted). Carvalho is there as back up and given that he's apparently turned up this season (fingers crossed) that's probably fine.
I'm content with this and that hopefully allows us to blood some youngsters with appropriate expectations for the season now.

Maybe but it’s good we aren’t having our pants pulled down.
After the Bradford game I’m really coming round to seeing a few of our kids being given an opportunity…
There’s nothing like homegrown players-look at their reaction to their debuts. It’s really cheering…
