Default LTLF's Sounds of the 80s

I'll take on the Gary Davies role for this one, for the decade when yuppies and yachts and the pop video came into its own. In my opinion the music of the 80s, at least the first half of the decade, carried the peak of creativity, tapping into what had been great in the 50s, 60s and 70s, whilst still progressing at a pace. From the end of this decade things seemed to decline in my opinion, as the artists lost their individuality and became overly stagemanaged by the music studios and producers.
Here is one of my favourite songs from the 80s.

    A brave man.

For me, this is the 80s:

    https://youtu.be/ga6v91ZGL1U

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

The greatest 2:45 ever committed to musical vinyl, and I will fight to the death anyone who thinks otherwise:

Really obvious choice, but 41 years on it's still ace.

If you could somehow extract and convert raw energy into music, this would be the result

I'd like to say this is from when Morrissey wasn't a twat, but in reality he always was, just more talented and a great combination with Johnny Marr.

But that song was written in the seventies just didn't get recorded until 1980.

I fell in love with football as I was later to fall in love with women,. Suddenly, uncritically giving no thought to the pain it could bring. - Nick Hornby

New Romantics. Some questionable fashions but great tunes.

I'm just figuring out how best to post the entire of Appetite for Destruction without making it too obvious
