Remember this song being played regularly on Junior Choice. It always reminds of the old 'Potato Man' that used to deliver groceries to folk on Acton road in Long Eaton when I was a kid. Then one day he didn't come anymore.

I do love this, but every time I hear it, it reminds me of Tour of Duty.

I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism

Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.

I remember the publicity in the British music press when that record was released Gary that the "Teenage Opera" it was taken from was going to be a psychedelic stage-show and album.

Despite the fact that Keith West had been a member of the cult psychedelic band, Tomorrow (My White Bicycle), as Forestjones has said, it never saw the light of day.

For quite a few years, there's been one Quo album that I didn't have. That's no longer the case as 'Spare Parts' dropped through my letterbox on Saturday. Unless you're a die hard fan, there would be very few Quo albums where you like every track. For me, this would only apply to Hello, Blue For You, If You Can't Stand The Heat and Whatever You Want. That is until now, as this one is right up there for me.

Nancy was probably my first celebrity crush, at about 4-5 years old.

This was a proper floor filler at the Bag o' Nails club in Soho back in the day. Hanging with Jimi, Maca and the other guys (I wish)

My mum told me that on one occasion , a cow had escaped from there and trampled on my dad's roses on our front garden.

I think that happened more once. I worked at Pressac in the mid 80's and early 90's which backed on to the slaughter house I left in the 90's to work for one of the big 4 then came back to Pressac to run their US operation. So all in all I spent a lot of time on Acton Road.
    Which end were you at?

There were two brand new houses built in the early 60s in middle. We had one of those. I lived there from 1964 to 1968. There used to be a National petrol Garage at the end of the street opposite the slaughter house and the mushroom farm. I remember Tonibell ice cream vans there too.

This was amongst a pile of (mostly 60s) singles that someone gave to my Dad for me in 1976. PYE pink label.
