Unlikely Brass had much involvement in their academy generation of Luke Robinson, James Carragher, Alfie Devine, Jensen Weir, Joe Gelhardt and Kyle Joseph but he would have been involved as Director of Football when they were getting into the Wigan First Team.

He was involved in signing Antonee Robinson, Kieran Dowell and Joe Williams from Everton ? https://theathletic.com/1991795/2020...-joined-milan/

Cohen, Reidy and Dawson you’ve mentioned, I still reckon Forest should have gotten Paul Hart back too.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Totally agree with bringing Paul Hart back. I know he had a decent spell as manager, but the cost to the club was huge.

Not specifically an ex-player, but I always thought Davies pushing Pemberton out of the door was a big mistake too. He did a fantastic job whilst at the club.

    Hart
    Pemberton
    Lester
    Cohen

Would take any of the above.

    Remain unconvinced re Reid strangely...

I might be wrong, and if I'm not it might only be on a matchday basis in normal times, but I think that Bennett does still have some involvement at the CG.

Ah, I’d like to think so Otis.

Granted, it’s been some time since I saw Julian to talk to, but the last time I bumped into him in Rudd, he was talking about the „MB Coaching“ Company that he and Wes had running, providing coaching sessions for kids.

If he’s properly involved in the club, so much the better.

    This is what he’s about:

    Agreed.

Not just the analytical side though, the common sense side too. Fitness, attitude, previous squad relationships etc. Modesto & co/ didn't seem to give any thought to any of those very fundamental things.

MON valued such things highly, and from Hughton's radio interview he does too. That's a key part of what great teams are built in IMO.

The best teams have all angles covered, traditional and modern. That's been my point all along, it's a balance. With Hughton's input then, if he's allowed to shape our setup rather than some amateur like Vrentroz trying to wing it, Christ the difference that will make will be massive.

(and you know who was awesome at spending hours analyzing players and games from a statistical, practical and traditional POV? That's right - Billy Davies )

Now then. I've had my two days of sulking and now the optimism starts to build again.

I am genuinely excited about this change it shows a maturity and that even better the Ownership is grasping the recruitment issues.

The problem at Forest really is we dont have the money thats plain and simply why we dont succeed.

So what do you need if you dont have money? Its excellent recruitment, coaching and combining the the 2. I didnt have much against the current system initially but it just hasnt worked out for us so its good they are changing things up.

Very true. If we're learning and now doing the right things, then that's something to be optimistic about.

Hopefully gone are the days of throwing money away on the likes of Soudani, and now the core decisions we make & operational methods will be what count regardless of spend.

He managed to squeeze MoN in there too. A royal flush.

You omitted to name-check your other long-time scapegoat, Hillal Soudani, so not quite.

Edit: To note that I posted the above before seeing your post #113.

I'd like to think you were being ironic Alf, but it's clearly not the case.

The recruitment team seems to meet with approval.

I wonder if the players they recruit will meet with the same approval.

Just as I don't like to tick someone off until they actually fuck up, I don't praise until they do something good.

Whilst I'm not sure on the amount of influence he had at Wigan, I'm encouraged by the talk of Chris Brass joining this summer. Had they not been shafted by their owner, they'd have had a real good side this season.

Was interesting seeing we had a scout at a Ligue 1 game the other day as well. I've also thought we should do more shopping in France, especially as Olympiakos have done well there too. Whilst Da Costa was a bit of a dud, Samba & a few of the others we've been linked with (Silas Wamangituka, Farid Boulaya, Kiki Kouyate) have turned out to be very good.

The CH " Mantra " everywhere he goes is always the same to everyone he ever works for.

It's always " Look just give me a fighting chance by providing whatever you can in terms of funds to recruit what I can. And in return.i will do my level best to try and get to the PL because that's where I want to manage "

I really hope everyone at the Club and the fans buy into that. And if he can then that's what he will do. Every other Club in the Championship wants the same but not many other Managers have had the correct formula and next year is a perfect opportunity because this must be the first time in a long time when all 3 clubs dropping down from the PL have failed to gather 30 points in the top Division

Don’t we have an academy lad that’s French who’s tearing it up?

Yeh, Ateef Konate. Signed from Le Havre last year. Has just turned 20, so perhaps we'll see him in pre-season.
