The one with the pipe is Albert Tatlock from Corrie.

That was only two years after Ipswich won the First Division title. They dropped to 17th the season after winning the league and finished bottom in this season. How quickly things can turn around.

Yes,they won the First Division title in their first ever season there in 1962 under Alf Ramsey-an equally
remarkable feat as Forest achieved in 1977/78.

Took a great free kick but I think he tendency to tongue people after they scored went against him.

Ponte that is. Reply didn't work!

One of my favourite players in those early years. I obviously rated him higher than Brian and Peter did.

    Wigan’s old ground Springfield park.
I went there once in about 1984 with a mate (we were about 15 at the time), god knows why we went, but when we got there we found the game had been called off even though it was bright sunshine. There was no one around until a mini van screeched up in the car park and about 15 Walsall skinheads fell out the back, they looked around and then went into a sort of sportsmans club next to ground, we followed them in and inside there was a wedding reception going on. The Walsall fans ransacked the place chucking the food around then legged it jumped into the van and sped off leaving me and my mate to face all these irate northerners that looked like Bob carolgees. There was something very comical about the whole situation. I remember One bloke had to be held back shouting ‘yer abote as big as ma little fingrr’ in a Wigan accent. Typical sort of day following football away in the 80’s.

Be lucky to get 66 goals in a month now never mind one Saturday.
No wonder they were all getting good attendances.

Chucked away a 3-0 half time lead. Imagine the steam from Otis' ears.

Is this after the League Cup semi final win in 1989?
Probably,it always seems to persist down when I visit Ashton Gate.

Yes,I think this was the last time we won at Anfield,2-0 in 1968/69.To make things better, my primary school
teacher at the time came from Merseyside and was a Liverpool fan.
