I was gutted when this ground bit the dust.
I always think of this game when Roker Park gets a mention. Great come back from Sunderland and that end you pictured used to make some right racket.

Nice one Bryn.... Roker Park was one of the noisiest grounds I've been to.

The lad I roomed with in the forces was a Mackem season ticket holder, no matter where we were based, if Sunderland played on a Tuesday he'd make the trip there and back.

Is it the old East Stand?
Having said that loads of grounds had a stand like that.

When football kits were proper and men were men, on muddy pitches...

You are correct Bryn well spotted.

I used to sit on those benches behind the away fans with my dad.

I can spend hours watching these old clips.

I hope some of the younger folk on here watch these.

Football really was magic back then.

That No9 looks like Andy Lochead of Aston Villa. Villa Park? I don't recognise the open terrace.

I think it was the year Villa went down to the 3rd Division. It’s Field Mill!

It's been a while since I've been to Field Mill or Villa park.

    Here’s an oddball.
As long as we remember it’s impossible to build new main stand though all is good

I'm loving all these pictures of proper grounds.

They've all got their own individual characteristics.

Looks nowt like that now, just a generic lower league ground like a lot of the others.

I miss all the old grounds with their individual character and atmosphere. The all seater and new stadiums killed football for me quite a bit.

The oddball picture is Goodison Park.
