The problem there is you’d end up with the current IFollow offering, where (at least) one third of the games are „blacked out“ for contractual reasons (typically because they’re on Sky in the U.K., or in rare cases somewhere else that still causes them to be blacked out). And that won’t change any time soon.

Also that option isn’t cheap (€177 a season If you’re in Europe) and frankly the quality is shocking.

Very little pre-match build up, no half time analysis (instead, loads of adverts and messages exhorting you not to pirate the coverage) and there’s zero post-Match analysis or interviews either. As soon as the game finishes, the coverage stops, which is frankly rubbish.

You get the match, and that’s it. The quality of the video streams is poor also (and it isn’t my connection; I have DAZN as well, and all their streams are crystal clear HD, as are all the other streaming services I use, like Netflix).

And don’t get me started on the absolute shocker that is their iOS app.

I don't really use it on iOS... but in general I don't think the actual iFollow product is that bad in terms of quality, though not worth £10 a match when you can get a month's sport on Nowtv for twice that.

The audio feed is basically the build up you get, which is basically RN (when restrictions allow them), so they don't really have control over this, the cutting in and out of the adverts is annoying though. But it does allow you to watch the game.

You would need a nowtv pass or a sky subscription but I guess that's rights based, Sky will have bought the rights to exclusive coverage of x football league games a season, and unless the EFL manage to renegotiate this to allow for those matches, that isn't likely to change. (If it did, no doubt i'd cancel nowtv, because I only rarely watch the PL, they don't have any tennis but the ATP tour apart from the slams is on Prime anyway, and even when I do watch the PL it's often on when I'm doing other things.

Maybe they do need to improve the product - video quality is perhaps one area they could, maybe their own audio and video before and after but this would require them to do different setups for each match in all 3 divisions as opposed to some DOGs before the match, the stadium video feed, and radio commentary which is already being done.

I'd still pay to watch it though - it's less than a match (and takes less time out of your day even though I'm not that far from the ground) and better than listening.
