    Default The Big Match Revisited

    Anyone see it this morning?
Tottenham Hotspur v Nottingham Forest 1979. Kenny Burns tackled Ricky Villa in a way Hong Kong Phooey would've been proud of There a few clips on YouTube of this match but none show that tackle! Anyone have a link or able to post a Gif of the tackle because it really was a beauty. Thanks in advance.

Ha ha! I remember being at this game.. That particular brand of Scottish King Fu was the only thing we got to cheer about on the day as we were royally outplayed.

That Hoddle Goal though eh? Ball never touched the ground from the hands of their reserve goalie until Shilts picked it out of the back of his net....

Scottish Kung Fu really made me chuckle, I was imagining a Scottish remake of the karate kid where Daniel Larusso plants a Glasgow kiss on Johnny Lawrence panning round to the proud face of his trainer Sensei Gerard Butler.

Yeah loads better m8. Probably one of the worst tackles I have ever seen. Only Gascoigne on Garry Parker beats this imo.

I watched this on Saturday morning, Brian Moore mentioned something about it being the first live football of the season because ITV had been on strike. Glad Kenny gave them something good to watch after that long ball Larry stuff from Spurs.

He created some business for whoever made Ricky Villa's socks that week.

    ..no teeth!

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”
