Default Out Of Contract Championship Players worth a dabble?

Just thinking about some of the keys areas we need to strengthen, I thought I'd put together some of the better options available on a free. Would you take any of them?

    RB:
    Adam Smith (29)
    Kiki Ferminia (30)
    Ryan Nyambe (23)
    Jack Hunt (30)
    Kyle Naughton (32)
    Kieron Freeman (29)

    CM:
    Alex Mowatt (26)
    Jack Wilshere (29)
    Tom Carroll (2
    Barry Bannan (31)
    Joe Rothwell (26)
    Pelly-Ruddock Mpanzu (27)
    Henri Lansbury (30)
    Liam Walsh (23)

    AM:
    Nick Powell (27)
    Emiliano Marcondes (26)
    Alex Pritchard (27)
    Jamie Paterson (29)
    Izzy Brown (24)
    Alen Halilovic (24)
    John Toral (26)

    Forwards:
    Ashley Fletcher (25)
    Jordan Rhodes (31)
    Famara Diédhiou (2

I'd personally go all-out for Powell, Mowatt (assuming Barnsley don't go up), and Nyambe.

    Pritchard over Powell for me.

We’ll probably be priced out of Mowatt

Your palms are holding her neck and thumbs are at her ears regulating the speed of her head as she swallows and then sucks up your machinery. She is topping up your engine oil for the cross-country coming up. Your RPM is hitting a new high. To wait any longer would be to lose prime time... She picks up a Bugatti's momentum. You want her more at a Volkswagen's steady trot. Squeeze the maximum mileage out of your gallon of gas. But she's eating up the road with all cylinders blazing.

I didn't realise Powell was out of contract at Stoke. A top player at this level, would imagine he'd have his pick of clubs if he leaves, though.

Mowatt's a no-brainer but probably out of our reach now considering the season he's had. Would've been a wise investment last summer for a couple of million.

Rothwell, Walsh, Brown & Fletcher are all decent players & worth a look but have all had issues with injuries lately.

I've never heard of any of them apart from Lansbury.

Jack Hunt was good for us, I thought.

I can't believe Jack Wilshere is on that list.

He really looked like he could have been the next Gascoigne at one stage. How the mighty fall....

Alex Mowatt is class, I’ve hoped before that Forest would ask about him, but there’s probably no chance if it comes to £££

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

The appears to be a growing kerfuffle around Patterson coming back.

Not for me, but some seem to think it could work.

Does anyone have any links to Olympiacos' reserve team?

Or a list of Comorian international footballers who fancy a holiday here?

Just wanna be a bit realistic that's all.

Joe Rothwell has always looked decent to me from the bits-and-pieces of him that I've seen.

Mowatt is a top player at this level. A natural leader in the middle.

Diedhou was decent across a few seasons and could be a younger target man to replace Glenn Murray.

Nick Powell is also worth looking at. A constant goal threat from midfield is something we're sorely missing.

Nyambe, mowatt, Powell, brown and fletcher please. Would plug a few gaps. Then just ship about 500 hundred players out and we are set.

    Don't want any of them

Players are out of contract for a reason

Not always the same reason, though.

Trouble us Harvey we are no longer a club who can afford to
Ignore whole sections of the TF market-sure we’d all like to see a £13M signing rather than a free TF (!) but the cupboard is relatively bare, unless we sell our best players.

Truth is everyone in the championship barring those with parachute payments is in the business of finding “value” wherever that maybe. The key is then to take that value and make it better-something we’ve been shit at first a number of years...

If we have to sign other teams' unwanted dross because we're strapped for cash I'd rather we didn't sign anyone

Diédhiou could be decent freebie. The better players on that list (your Mowatts and Powells) will demand wages that are far beyond what we can offer though, and most of the rest are bomb squad material.

Theres platyers on their that improve what we have.

    Nyamba
    Hunt

    Mowatt
    Rothwell

    Powell
    Pritchard

    Dedhiou

Improving us on a free (wages permitting) is surely a good thing?

Some decent players on the list. Unfortunately, if they came to us, they’d inevitably become biscuits or forget how to play

I get it, but the devil is in the detail and amongst the dross there maybe players who have refused the terms they have been offered at that club and want to move on.

I don't want to see more bomb squad dross drafted in but I also don't want to be condemned to watching the shite we saw last season for eternity, which is what we will get if we don't make some changes...

The problem is that we aren't in a position to offer decent wages ourselves, so good players that have refused new contracts at other Championship clubs will most likely be asking for more than what we can offer.

That's not to say that there aren't good free transfers to be had mind you, but I don't see many names in that list that we could afford and would be an improvement on what we've got.

Mowatt, Powell, Pritchard, Halilovic and Fletcher would all be on my consideration list. Maybe Smith or Ferminia too.

Of those players, I think only Halilovic would be willing to join us based on the money/ambitions we could offer.
