    First priority: bring in two (or more) proper full-backs.

    Default Summer 2021 transfer window

    The minimum required is a couple of full-backs, a couple of midfielders and a couple of wingers.

    I’m hoping we can wrap up the signings of Krovinovic, Garner (loan) and Knockaert (loan) fairly quickly in the summer, then we can concentrate on a first choice full-back on either side and a pacey right-footed winger to complete the first eleven.

    Still loads of work to do beyond that though, mainly shipping out the likes of Arter, Blackett and Bachirou who are still under contract and aren’t even second choice.

    Could also do with getting better replacements for Jenkinson and Bong who are still under contract.

    I wouldn’t renew any of the out of contract players either: Diallo (pointless signing), Hefele (pointless), Dawson (add to staff?), Ribeiro (hope we could do better), Sow (great but too many injuries) and Ameobi (too erratic). Murray, will wait and see how he does.

    Johnson and hopefully Gabriel/Richardson and Ioannou returning can save us making even more signings.

    Would leave us with:

    GK: Samba, Smith;
    RB: ( ), Richardson/Gabriel;
    RCB: Worrall, Mbe Soh;
    LCB: McKenna, ( );
    LB: ( ), Ioannou;
    CM6: Colback, Yates;
    CM8: (Garner), Cafu;
    CM10: (Krovinovic), Johnson;
    RW: (Knockaert), Lolley;
    LW: ( ), Mighten;
    CF: Grabban, Taylor.

    7 in, 12 out for me.

    However, I suspect Hughton will keep Bong and sell Ioannou, keep Figueiredo, Blackett and Jenkinson as backup, let one of Taylor/Grabban go and keep Murray. So probably 6 in, 9 out.

    Can see Hughton moving on both Taylor and Grabban in the summer and giving Murray another year, with 1 or 2 new strikers coming in.

    Obviously 2 new full backs are a must, as is either retaining Krovinovic and Garner for next season or signing decent replacements if we can't keep them. Need at least one decent winger coming in as well. I suspect we'll sell Worrall, so will also need to bring in another centre half.

    Nope.

    The thing is carvalho, could definitely do a job especially as we are now playing more of a passing game. Marcus mugane also coming back, would think hughton would be giving a few of the players currently out on loan a realistic look before he splashes out too much money

    I don't think Murray will want another year. I think he will retire at the end of this season and return down South. His family are settled there and he has hinted that he will want to expand his Media Career.

    I think GBG is correct. Full Backs are a priority but Bong might get another year. He is a great influence on younger players.

    Knockhaert the jury is still out on. I would like to keep him but not at the price Fulham might ask.

    Samba is the biggest priority for me. Must ensure he is on a long term contract because a good keeper is essential for a Promotion push.

    The player I think he might go for is Dale Stephens. He can't force his way into the Burnley side and he would be an excellent sitting midfielder.

    The rest is up to the Recruitment Team to go and find the missing pieces of the jigsaw that CH might identify.

    hughton might tempt murray with a part coach/player role but we do need to find another striker regardless of murray involvement.

    I would like to see this:

    GK: Samba, Smith
    RB: New, Richardson
    CB: Worrall, McKenna, Mbe Soh, Figgy
    LB: Ribeiro, Iannou
    CM: New, New, Yates, Cafu, Sow
    RW: New, Lolley
    AM: Krovinvic, Johnson,
    LW: Ameobi, Mighten
    ST: New, Taylor, Murray

    That would mean Diallo, Jenkinson, Bong, Bachirou, Colback, Arter, Dawson, Blackett and Grabban all going and the loans of Knockaert, Freeman (Too expensive), Christie (Not good enough) not being extended.

    I suspect however that we'll probably keep Jenkinson, Bong, Colback, Arter, Blackett and Knockaert, so from Hughton's POV it will just be a new RB and a new striker if Grabban leaves, which worries me a bit as I think our problems run deeper than just getting a new RB and a new striker.

    30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

    fulham paid 10m for knockaert , they'll want the same fee. Thanks but no thanks, we shouldn't be paying that amount for a single player.

    Fulham might have Knockaert back if they go down. If not, then I can see him back out on loan again, I doubt many Champ clubs will be paying millions for a winger who's nearly 30.

    Stranger things have happened.

    Now he's got some respectable game-time under his belt & matured a bit, he might actually be just what we need.

    I'd trust in Hughton to make the right shout in regards to any of our players currently out on loan. I'm interested in seeing what he does with Johnson and Carvalho in particular.

    Me too. Just having him making the calls now is a relief in itself, as he'll be doing it to win matches & points. Not to appease agents, contacts or "family" etc.

    I do think Carvalho's got more chance of doing something next year, simple through the fact he' now maturing towards his peak, similar how Yates has shown more this year too.

    Just don’t want loads and loads of players in.....ship a few out and then bring in three or four quality hungry players.

    Hughton's evident preference for a more-orthodox no.10 should hopefully give encouragement to Carvalho. As for Johnson, his versatility across the front-line offers the manager more options for next season.

    It's why I wouldn't write off Carvalho yet.

    Sabri didn't play with a #10, his most advanced central midfielder was a deeper player who arrived on edge of box late.

    Hughton hasn't seen Carvalho yet. I suspect he won't get chance to (decision will be out of his hands), but if there's no permanent suitors for him then who knows, Hughton might give him a chance, which is more than he got with Sabri.

    Wasn’t it a board decision to bin off Carvalho as much as it was a management decision? Either way he won’t play another game for us, good job we was a cheap signing.

    Another factor is balancing the books-selling him mit bring more funds to get the players hughton needs. I thinking the other day if carvalho wud fit into this team. The second half against Wycombe he’d of thrived, second half against cov he’d be subbed off. What is encouraging is that, despite hughton having reputation of pragmatic football he has brought in flair players and seems to want a more fluid attacking 3-4 players who can create.

    With Freeman getting game time, I can't help feel that Hughton may already be looking to extend his loan, or make his move permanent.
