    Finally got through it all. Fucking brilliant Rockers, loved every bit of it. This as a book, with photos of all your art in, would be brilliant. I’d also make an Instagram account if I was you, I think you’d get a lot of people appreciating your artwork.

    I've got a mate who's a publisher. Pineapple books, look him up. I'll make an intro if you like. He can take a while getting back in touch tho.

    An Instagram account is a great shout. It's a (mostly) lovely community that will share art and what you have done Rockabilly is definitely worth sharing. Drop me a noodle on PM and I can help with it if required.

    Thanks Carlos, much appreciated My days of social media are well behind me now. Apart from LTLF, I'm not one for social media or owt like that. Maybe I'll write the book, I need to have a long think about it. To be honest, my Artwork belongs on the Fairground or in the museums and wall art places such as restaurants and diners. I've had my moment of glory, time to let the new/modern artists show their work off on social media.

    I've enjoyed posting my work on here, all of you that have 'liked' and commented on my work are fully appreciated.

    Agree about Instagram, I've been doing music posts on there for about a year and came across some nice people to talk about music with.

    Hey Buddy

    Just finished off catching up on the final 3 or 4 episodes and I can honestly say

    " It was absolutely MAGIC "

    I loved it all especially the the bit about Spanish City with my affinity to the place. The way that you summarised the final chapter was very sweet despite being a bit of a slag part way through it. . -. I am joking of course mate.

    My best bit was near the end though where you spend time with the Pensioners having tea. I do that as well. If I ever see a little old lady in a café on her own I always go and chat to them even if I don't know them.

    You know the ones - They get all dressed up. There husband's have probably passed away. They always wear all their best jewellery and get their hair done at the hairdresser's 3 times a week just to go and have a cup of tea and a cake because they are lonely.

    I love to think if they are lonely at home at least they can tell their hairdresser at their next visit that they got chatted up in a café by a " Toy Boy " ( I use that term loosely these days )

    Anyhow Rocka - It has been an absolute pleasure reading your story. I found it absolutely rivetting and fascinating.

    Does that mean I can have a signed copy of the book when it comes out?!

    I understand what you are saying about your artwork. But what I will say is I think a lot of young people would be inspired by your art, and if it inspires one young lad or lass to pick up a paint brush and become their own Rembrandt, what a brilliant legacy to your years on the fairs that would be.

    About five years ago, I sent out a few Emails to the local schools in my area, along with some photos, explaining about Fairground Art and it's heritage. I was willing to take some artwork along with me and do a talk on the subject. Not just fairground art, I mentioned too, about traditional sign writing and narrow boat painting too. I must have tried over a dozen schools in the Derby area, they all basically told me to f**K off.
    Yes, Ganderz... and all those that have supported and encouraged me on here, a signed book would come your way. Myself and Joolz have been having a good chat about it today. I've got a few irons in the fire, so to speak.

    Your palms are holding her neck and thumbs are at her ears regulating the speed of her head as she swallows and then sucks up your machinery. She is topping up your engine oil for the cross-country coming up. Your RPM is hitting a new high. To wait any longer would be to lose prime time... She picks up a Bugatti's momentum. You want her more at a Volkswagen's steady trot. Squeeze the maximum mileage out of your gallon of gas. But she's eating up the road with all cylinders blazing.

    That’s absolutely mental Rockerz. I don’t know what self respecting teacher would turn down the opportunity to do something like that? I was showing my lad some of your artwork at the weekend and he loved it, so he couldn’t be the only one.

    If you need any help with anything regarding the book, just give me a shout.

    I got the impression the schools think fairground folk are gypsies etc.

    Thanks for the offer.

    There is definitely a misconception there. We used to get it in the boozer where showman were referred to as Gypsies by some and every other derogatory term you can think of associated with that word.

    Afgerlechterboterum is a Dutch / Flemish / Africans word.

    It's literal translation is " left overs "

    However in a sexual context it means " having been licked before " " after being licked". quite literally

    Afger = after

    Lechter = licked

    Boterum = being

    Great thread Rocka - really enjoyed it. Just watching an old episode of Brian Johnson's Life on the road with Mark Knopfler filmed at the Spanish City. Lots of old clips of the fair, and it turns out Knopfler was in a rockabilly band called Cafe Racers before he formed Dire Straits.
