Agreed, still has that quality on the ball but some of his defensive work has been outstanding. He could be a massive factor for us in the second half of the season.

I have been quite critical of Garner's performances to date, but have to agree that over the last 3 games he seems to be getting his form of last season back.
It still irks me a bit that we have to have loan players in and that we might look more closely at our Academy players. Fornah isn't getting a look in and I fear we will lose his potential when his contract is up for grabs.

Yep Fornah looked like real prospect. I hope he's been reassured that he'll get his chance next season..

Not quite sure there either, at the moment colback, ojeda and Yates seem in front of him. Think he should definitely go out on loan in Jan, maybe to a league 1 side

Fornah is a different player to those three.

I think Colback is the most at risk going into next season. Yates and Ojeda both seem to offer the same, if not more, in the passing, tenacity and getting box to box. Ojeda gets into better positions in the half spaces though and Yates has a physical presence that Colback doesn't have. Neither of them are as reckless as Colback is too.

Given Colback will be on the biggest wedge of the four, and thinking he doesn't offer us anything more than the other players, he might be one we try to move on, and then bring in someone younger and cheaper to challenge Fornah as a playmaker (with both Yates/Ojeda being more box-to-box'y).

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

Garner is just like Harry Kane.

A late starter in a season but once he gets going....

Not sure what or why it took him so long to get going this season, but that's the Manchester United player we know.

MOTM for me on Saturday. Proper all round action performance. That through ball on 30 seconds in that video the highlight.

Probably because he's still only 20. He looks and plays like a player much older.

He's excellent at taking the ball on the back foot in tight areas

Header through to Grabban at 1.23 is quality as well.

From what I've watched of Fornah which is only a few u23 games this season, I can see them giving him a go in the Garner role as he seems to have a good range of passing, gets stuck in and is great at turning out of trouble and creating space.

If Grabban was 5 years younger, that wouldíve been a goal.

    Man what a quality pass.

United pissing him about all summer, then sending him out on loan last minute.

I don’t think he’s been good enough for me.
Picks the ball up in space and should be looking for the forward pass but always seems to be sidewards or backwards.
Defensively should of been picking up Duane Holmes for their goal too.
Needs to up his game, not sure if he’s scared to play within the system or what but capable of better.

He's been back towards his best recently. Probably our best player against Huddersfield

Think Iím right in saying that Holmes turned away from Ojeda which created the space for him. Garner tried to get across but cudnít quite cover ground. Little garner could have done. Thought in last few games Garner has upped his game. Before, some games were passing him by but u can see he is more confident now and wanting to be on the ball.

    Spence, Worrall, Johnson all better.
Only 1 assist and 1 goal so far this season.

Just watched Huddersfield game on Forest TV.

Garner is immense for us at present. He sometimes gets away with tackles that look like borderline yellows, no free kick given - maybe because he always goes in with complete conviction that he'll win the ball.

He gave the ball away horribly with a crossfield pass near the end, when he should have had played it forwards. Apart from that he was working well with Ojeda, and he had a great volley which went just wide. Also a free kick which flew wide but wa aimed for the top corner.

We need to make the most of Garner while we have him, as he's a fighter and a winner.
