    Aye. If he can add what we've been lacking in the center of the park and get us to the summer that will be good. It's another platform for Hughton to build off.

    Signing one of these 30-odd year old midfielders is bound to work eventually.

    you have a point Alf, stay up by any means then go again next season - but we need a proper clear out in the Summer

    According to my mate on the south-coast, a massive cherries fan, Dan Gosling is:
    1 a workhorse who almost every game clocked up the most kilometres run;
    2 Is out of contract at the end of the season;
    3 Doesn't "hide" or "go missing" in games;
    4 Hasn't played much this season.
    So, I see a similar player to Arter... unfit, not particularly gifted as a footballer, but who will his legs off.
    As a matter of interest, Mrs S when she ran a children's charity in Bournemouth, worked with Dan Gosling on a scheme to get kids from the poorer areas of Bournemouth off the streets and into some organised fitness/sport programme.
    She considered Gosling to be a genuine sort, and the kids loved working with him.
    I hope he isn't just another journeyman footballer looking for a last 3 year deal to see him to retirement.
    By the way, how old was that Ben Osborn, who would run his legs off for us, never went missing in games and yet wasn't considered worthy of getting a new contract from us, before moving to Sheff Utd?

    Given his age, shouldn't he be called Ryan Gander?

    shall we just wind back to 04-05 and snap up John Curtis, Paul Evans and Darryl Powell? Fuck it, let's push the boat out and get Andy Impey in on loan...he'll supply Gareth Taylor with the assists we need to survive.

    in theory this isn't a bad signing. its just because weve made so many other bad signings in this position that really makes it a bad signing. hopefully he can be better than the others

    Oh well, won't lose any sleep over this one. Especially if it was to be a permanent move on a lengthy contract.

    You know things are bad when a 31 year old player that is out of contract in the Summer would rather stick it out in Bournemouth reserves than sign for us...

    Couldn’t make it up. Surely... surely... someone must of asked the question if he fancied it or not before spending a week trying to sort the deal?

    Given that Forest are one of the most reliant on matchday revenue in the entire league it's a wonder we can offer anything after nearly a year of so little income from this.

    He can't smell the history from the south coast.

    2 players now that have told the club to bollocks then by the looks of it.

    I don't blame him tbh, he's a damn site closer to the top league staying where he is. I actually respect a player like that, not wanting to jump ship and instead sticking around to make a good account of himself where he is. Assuming it is for that reason and not because he doesn't fancy the carnival of a relegation battle with the odd goal here and there.

    He is on Ģ30k per week until end of season.
    Then he is a free agent to negotiate a signing on fee and a decent wage.
    I don’t blame him.

    Of course, I suspect he wanted more money. I'm glad we stood our ground for once.*

    *Until he is holding up a shirt tomorrow night saying what a massive club it is and how he can't wait to get going.

    Has kids, settled at school, happy where he lives, a decent income for next 6 months. playing here and there, likely to continue. Can see why he would stay put.
