losing 5-1 to City would have been par-for-the-course. No drama, no massive loss of morale/confidence.

losing 5-1 to Swansea is a complete embarrassment and will knock on to the players and our survival hopes.

note: I know we wouldn't have scored against City.

Burton scored against city in the semi finals of the cup?

Swansea are better in every respect. How is losing to them, even emphatically, a complete embarrassment?

To be fair to him Hughton is still trying to work out what went wrong leading to us scoring 1 today.

Don't think anybody would, not what I implied.

My reply was to your headline which implied that the F.A. Cup, and therefore today's result/performance, was irrelevant. I don't care we're out of the cup, I just would like to not be a shambles.

If that's an acceptable performance, even from our reserves, then fair enough. Maybe I'm wrong for expecting better.

Because it demonstrates just how far backwards we have slid in 12 months.

    The performance.

The fact that headlines are "Swansea battered Forest".

Gonna finish there, haven't got the energy for the club.

You're not wrong, the cup is crap. This was just crapper than it had to be from us.

He must be fuming. He had his heart set on a thumping 0-0 win

They were better then too. We were punching above our weight to be in the top 6 for most of the season and make 7th. They were a parachute club and expected to compete for promotion.

How many years have Swansea been in the Premier League in the past decade? How many have we been in the Premier League in the past decade?

If we're going to chuck in the towel just because a Championship club has been in the Premier League more recently than us then there isn't really much point in even turning up for those games.

Far less embarrassing to concede those games 3-0 and save our efforts for trying to get a 0-0 at home against Rotherham instead.

Missing the point. Compared to us they are a rich club with a much better squad. Some talk as if it's the other way round.

It’s an embarrassment for sure. They’re in the same league, smaller budget , squad ‘on paper’ shouldn’t be that far ahead of Forest.

    Then when your manager says things like ;

"If you're away from home against a confident side and you don't think you can be as good as them as a footballing side...

"The most important thing for us at the moment is that it doesn't affect our league matches moving forwards. Today we wanted to progress to the next round of the FA Cup...”

I wonder if he’s ever approached a game and thought ‘ you know what, WE could be the better footballer side’ ?

Then to basically make it clear he’s glad we’re out of the cup... we’ll that might be the case Chris, but next time try to not make us the laughing stock of the round please

Nothing I can find online would indicate that they have a smaller wage bill than us.

Just looked at spend over last couple of years not done a big deep dive.

But it’s at least pretty similar. And when you look at where our players have come from
Vs there’s ... would suggest more in wages from us

Either way, the differences aren’t big enough to be lauding them as some footballing giants that have the right to bum us in to next week

Last published accounts show Swansea wage bill at 50m and us at 36m.

68m turnover to our 25m turnover.

Not even comparable in financial terms.

I think that that was their last season of parachute payments... could be this season though.
Parachute money has always been about trying to keep thePremiership for around 26 clubs.
20 in it and the rest receiving parachute money to help them get back.
Overseas owners got this concession when they went for a vote on an end to relegation from and promotion to the top tier.
    It's all about the money.

They received £35m parachute payments last year, but even comparing base Championship revenue... Swansea £30m Forest £25m.

We’ve spunked plenty in the last couple of years and don’t think the numbers have reflected that yet

After watching the performance Luton put in at Chelsea after losing 3. 1 it tells me how far we are even behind them they look a good unit with flair and attacking football. It’s no wonder Cohen fled the City Ground to work with a manager who tries to play good football.

How do Swansea turn over 5m more than us given we average at least 5000 more through the gate every year and we’re on tv all the time. The only difference here is they aren’t run like a fucking circus, and yesterday was truely embarrassing. We had some very well paid players on the pitch and a manager with the best record in the champ. Two ex prem fullbacks, a french wizard in midfield, 20 goal a season man up front, 10m rated Lolley, ex champions league player etc etc..
You’d expect to not get done 5-1 (one goal scored with 10 men) and Swansea having a couple of youth players playing..

Anyone remember when Psycho picked an understrength side in the cup v Spurs? It all went downhill from then according to many and he got a load of stick for it. Now it's just the cup, doesn't matter that we lost 5-1 to a fellow championship side.
I may be naive but I always though you went into every game trying to win it, that confidence was important. Not sure getting hammered in the cup does anyone's confidence any good.

Only Forest could send themselves backwards by signing too many (mainly decent players) given we already spend 143% of our turnover on wages!! You couldn't make it up.

You can also argue that if a manager wanted to see a player over 90 minutes, he'd go and watch a u23 match, not an fa cup 4th round. If it's someone like city fair enough, but Swansea?
