No vinyl for me tonight, just waiting on Jungle to hit the stage.

Knowing yours and Joolz's discerning tastes Gaz, I knew Ella would be right up there.

Yes; for me, it’ll be the Band of Gypsys, I think.

And a Wulle Bier. Or two.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

51st Anniversary - one of Jimi's finest tracks. Appropriate.

Although it wasn’t on Saturday, May I be allowed a little bit of licence?

My 13 yo daughter is quite eclectic in her musical taste, and doesn’t tend to follow the crowd. Anyway, she likes Queen, and wanted a Queen vinyl album to call her own. We popped into Rob Smiths and got a copy of “Queens Greatest Hits”. Unfortunately it jumps on Bohemian Rhapsody, so we will have to return it to Rob at some stage.

I decided to buy her a brand new version for her, and partly by accident I bought her one that had been remastered at halo-speed, so a single album becomes a double album, and to use a digital term for a mechanical process, the groves are spac d out more to increase the “bandwidth”.

I thought there would only be a marginal difference, and my system, whilst being very good quality, is at least 20 years old.

Well bugger me - the quality was mind blowingly improved, and I could use every superlative in the dictionary to describe the difference, and still not quite describe the actual improvement there is to the sound quality ( and sheer volume).

Next time I’ve got a bit of spare cash I’ll invest in a remastered copy of Dark Side of the Moon.

The only down side is the cost (the Queen album was about £30) as money is a bit tight at present, but for anyone thinking about trying one please don’t hesitate, as the improvement in quality is unbelievable.

Couldn’t edit above post, but please read “halo speed” as “half speed”.

Please also ignore other minor typos 😀

I'm as intrigued by "halo speed" Virgo, as I am in the knowledge that Robs Tecords is still going.

Couple of up-tempo vinyl classics tonight after cracking-open a bottle of red earlier:

Sly & The Family Stone's.....Stand (1969, original pressing).

To be followed by Anita's choice, The Temptations.....Cloud Nine (1969, original pressing).

A new bottle of Bushmills awaits for later.

    Cheers to all!

Don't know if anyone else is a fan but I've got some Neil Young currently playing; namely After the Gold Rush

One of my favourites from said LP:

    I didn't know that Freddie.

Anyway we're just back from a meal out (Kayala in Hockley), and I've put on John Coltrane's Ballads and poured myself a double Bushmills on-the-rocks and a Bailey's for the missus.

I’ve got Bowie/Legacy on, but shamefully not on vinyl, Spotify.

I grew up with Bowie as a soundtrack, he was always there and at the time it was just another Bowie song. Now I’m older I appreciate how good his music was. Took it for granted at the time.

I 'liked' that without knowing the record. I really get your passion for vinyl though Chris.

Groundbreaking album. I’ve watched endless documentaries about that album, most DJs threw the promo in the bin. But a few realised how good it was and the rest is history.

The first three Ramones albums are absolutely brilliant.

Hard to imagine they were fans of the Bay City Rollers.
