Your palms are holding her neck and thumbs are at her ears regulating the speed of her head as she swallows and then sucks up your machinery. She is topping up your engine oil for the cross-country coming up. Your RPM is hitting a new high. To wait any longer would be to lose prime time... She picks up a Bugatti's momentum. You want her more at a Volkswagen's steady trot. Squeeze the maximum mileage out of your gallon of gas. But she's eating up the road with all cylinders blazing.

Was going to make a few jokes on the theme of Whiteman, but in this ridiculously PC age I removed them and suspended myself for five minutes in penance.

God this fucker is good, I hope we sign him. We need to sign players like him, I don’t want to see us linked with some twat from the 6th league in Poland with a comb over.

If nothing else, at least we'll have a stick with which to beat the club with when we find out it's not us that's signed him

Donny chief exec say they have turned down several bids as none met their asking price.

Says it would take an “exceptional” offer but they “wouldn’t stand in his way”.

Sounds like CEO talk for drumming up a sale

On our shortlist according to Tails in his Athletic article this morning. Sounds like there's a quite a big bidding war for him though.

"Forest have also been scouting Doncaster midfielder Ben Whiteman, 24, who is the subject of strong interest from several other Championship clubs, including Derby County and Barnsley. Preston and QPR have both already had bids turned down for the player, with Preston expected to renew their efforts to sign him.

With so many clubs involved — at a time when they want to cut spending, rather than invest significantly in further transfers — it remains to be seen whether Forest will get involved in the bidding for the former Sheffield United and Mansfield player, but the fact they have been watching him is indicative of the type of player they would like to add."

He would be ideal. I wonder what their asking price is? Judging by what has been said about him and the limited times I’ve seen him, he’d be worth paying a higher transfer fee for because his value is likely to rise in the next few years.

THE TRUTH IS THERE AND WITH IT I GO TO THE END OF THE WORLD .

Not sure how much they'd want for him. With respect to the teams we're supposedly up against Preston don't usually pay high transfer fees or wages, Barnsley similar, QPR probably have a bit of cash from the Eze sale but that would come down to whether the lad fancied London and Derby haven't even paid their players for last month so I can't see them spending much if anything this month.

I would guess Preston are favourites with him being from that neck of the woods and with them already having bid for him.

We shall see. It depends whether he places staying local ahead of other considerations. If I was a young player I’d rather move to London in terms of location, but mainly I’d be looking at the ambition of the clubs involved and who the manager/coaches are. Hughton is a good manager to work for and despite being much maligned we do know that Vrentzos is capable of striking a good deal.

sounds like the ideal midfielder to tighten our midfield. sign him up ...

I'm sure the usual excuses will appear as to why we didn't sign him in the last window, but I don't know whether to be happy we're at least targeting players more suited for the task, or disappointed that we're still leaving it too late to get them when we need them and at the best price.

Acquiring him in the Summer would have seen less of a bidding war & more points for us now. The club needs to recognize that we're better off focusing resources on such players, as opposed to spreading wages & fees over a million hit & hopes.

If the lessons have been learned, we may get somewhere under this ownership yet.

oh please , how many here were salivating at colback back here. He's way overrated , overhyped and overpaid and i'm been against his signing for so long but here we go , average player that is proving to be the problem in midfield, not the solution.

Colback was the right player 18 months too late. This kid has a step up to make, but at least we're targeting the right type of player at an age they'll get better. We're desperate for leaders who don't shit-out when we go behind, and he is one.

Alan Brown at PNE would be my preferred choice, but signings like Whiteman are to me a huge upgrade on ones such as Bostock, & an 18 month not playing Colback. If a side could accomodate Wozza, Browne & Whiteman we'd suddenly go from having fairly shrivelled knackers, to big huge swingy love spuds.

Definitely good enough to keep us up. Good enough to take us up? That's another story, but we need to stay up first.

He's at a distinct advantage of not being written off straight away due to where he comes from. On that basis sign him up

Would be very encouraged by signing him, we haven't signed a player in his profile for a long while now. He will be approaching his prime, worth the risk.

You need to double-bag up Alf.

„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“

„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

My Donny mate has no faith that their board will negotiate a good fee for him, so hopefully we get him at a good price.

And keep his socks on. That's always protected me.

Or of course stop shagging birds from Doncaster and stick to (I can't believe I'm saying this) Mansfield girls.
