38 is the number of games played by English PL teams in a regular season, it used to be 42 but then some tossers came along and ruined the great game of Association Football, the game has been ruined to the extent where a drop ball is no longer contested.

The Heir to the throne of the greatest monarchy in the world that of the great nation of England is Prince William Arthur Philip Louis Windsor also known as Bill, is 38 years old.

38 is also the OH's age, for another 6 days at least. She's just booked in for her jabs.

Maybe I am being an idiot, but there seems to be a concern with the Indian variant over here, which at the moment seems localised to the North West. But when we first found out about this variant, why didnít we stop any incoming flights from India? Why did we wait days to do so? Am I missing something?

Early studies are showing it isn't vaccine resistant enough to pose an issue in that regard.

    Doesn't stop the bedwetters though.

Although India has been on the red list since 23/4, it is still possible to get from red list countries to UK indirectly and avoid the required hotel quarantine.

Also, anyone travelling internationally could bump into someone with the Indian variant and bring it home from a green list country

And it only takes one person with the Indian variant to enter the country to start the spread.

This is how it has been for over a year (so you're being a bit of an idiot if you haven't realised this yet).

Stopping all international travel would be the only solution.

It is affecting much younger healthy people in India, so there is concern that it might do that here too as the younger population have not been vaccinated yet.

The real concern would be if the hospitals start filling up again, but I don't know if there's any data available on that.

Now we're surge testing in the north west, is it still ok to send six thousand Manchester City fans to Portugal to watch a game of football between two English teams?

If they donít come back, yes.

ĄI believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialismď

ĄDon't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.Ē

Do you not think people have not flown their family members over from India?

Fly to Turkey, fly here, the problem is not the rules, its people.

I am sure not one who has circumvented those rules are isolating either.

4 deaths from this variant, no data to say if they had been vaccinated, where they had been.

Lufthansa dropped (again) a large number of flights between the sub-continent and Frankfurt, because of the new variant.

Of course, anyone flying to Frankfurt could then have flown to England, and if they were less than honest on the self-declaring online form (and itís that crap, how can you verify what is the truth?) then it would have been an easy path for the new variant to the U.K.

If you flew from India to Frankfurt and then on to the UK, then Frankfurt would have been your connecting flight so it should be obvious you have come from India, itís part of your flight itinerary.

The only way to get to the UK without there being a direct record of you coming from India would mean taking two separate flights, which would mean you entering Germany and following the rules laid out here, isolating for a period (length of isolation dependent on state) and then having to take a test before you boarded a flight to the UK.

As far as I can see the only way an Indian variant could have gotten to the UK is by someone flying from India directly into the UK and the rules not being applied or adhered to.

You can go on holiday from Monday. £20 return tickets from EMA to Portugal. Bargain!

What they don't tell you when booking is - you can't use a free test... you have to pay £120 for a private company test that produce a document you can use to travel... for 3 days, if you go more than a few days you'll need two of those. So £240. Per person. A family of 4 will set you back almost a grand.

What a piss take, the sooner that money making exercise is over the better.

I'm booked in for my second on Sunday too. If only there was a hay fever vaccine they could throw in at the same time it would be great.

(Just noticed the week on Sunday)

CTM seem to be the company with the finger in this pie. The prices of these tests are going to have to reduce significantly or the travel industry is totally dead in the water.

As I've mentioned before, I've tried umpteen times to reschedule my 2nd dose through swiftqueue and it's always been impossible.
Now it's reported that the over 50s second dose is to be brought forward to 8 weeks instead of 12 because of the Indian variant.
I had mine 9 weeks ago so according to the new strategy I'm due my dose now... still can't change my appointment via swiftqueue.

Is it only the affected areas that are getting priority mate?

I could have misunderstood but that wasn't the impression I got from watching the news. I assumed it was all over 50s.
