Billy was sacked the first time after losing to Swansea in the play-offs. Don't forget that McGugan hit the bar and Earnie hit a post in injury-time at 2-1.

Second sacking coincided with a horrendous injury list, he left Forest a place and just two points outside the play-off zone after an eight-game winless run. That was in March. I reckon he would have still have got us into the play-offs again that season if he was kept on.

From the outside it appeared Billy was sacked for his personality rather than the results he delivered (worst East Midlands derby result in over a century notwithstanding), publicly criticising his bosses weekly, and acting like he ran the place just like Clough but without the charisma or success.

SEVEN?!? Holy awesome that IS superb. We've been so lucky to have him grace us with his being. Such a shame he was cursed with a self-harming CEO & then owner.
