It was rather ironic that Sammy went on to play for Tulsa Roughnecks; that was a marriage made in heaven.

£3m up front potentially rising to £6m and 25% sell on, had medical today in Nottingham and set to sign a 4 year deal.

Reminds me of Worrall in his bravery to put blocks in. Worrall probably better on the ball whereas McKenna does seem like he doesn't mind aerial duels.

Costly but he is a good age and has decent pedigree.

Kenneth Burns reckons this signing makes us promotion contenders

I had always assumed he was a decent passer, but perhaps that’s just because he’s a young international British central defender and I think they’re all moulded to look like Jon Stones.

Good to see a Kenneth seal of approval, and he’s right, we have become a soft touch at the back. McKenna looks like he won’t allow himself to be bullied like our current CB pair. Quite the opposite, it sounds like he’ll be doing the bullying. Will hopefully go straight into the team on Friday.

Hopefully he can be as good as our successful Scottish players.

This will be Aberdeen's club record sale. First purchase from them ?

Signings from Scottish clubs. Any others ?

Celtic : Tommy Gemmell (1971), Jim McInally (1984)
Hibs : Peter Cormack (1970), Brian Rice (1980), Jason Cummings (2017)
    Rangers : Barry McKay (2017)

A lot of our best one's joined as youth : McKinlay, Robertson, Walsh, Wilson, S.Gemmill, Williams, Burke
Or Signed from English clubs : Imlach (Derby), McGovern (Leeds), Burns (Birmingham), A.Gemmill (Derby) Gray (Leeds), Wallace (yeah I know) (Coventry),

Charlie Nicholas isn't happy that Celtic didn't go in for him to rival us:

"At that sort of price range, Celtic should have moved for the Scotland international. They brought in another physical defender in Shane Duffy earlier this month, but they have only got him on loan for one season from Brighton and I don't think he's significantly better than McKenna."

You type in Nottingham Forest on twitter and it seems Aberdeen, Celtic and Rangers fans are fighting over who is claiming he is the biggest donkey.

Thankfully 99.99% of Scots football fans are probably brain dead so I will watch him first.

A few more from different eras Bryan.....Charlie Thompson (Chelsea), Jim Baxter (Sunderland), Dougie Fraser (WBA), George Lyall (PNE), Jimmy McIntosh (Montrose), Alan Mahood (Morton), Ray McKinnon (Dundee United - who, incidentally, we sold to Aberdeen) and not forgetting England's greatest Scotsman, Joe Baker!

    Thanks Otis.

There have been loads. According to this : http://www.thecityground.com/nationalities.php - McKenna would be the 100th Scotsman to play for Forest.

At 23 he's got years to improve the stuff he ain't great at but it seems he knows what he's about and excels in the areas we've struggled. We're not buying him to hit 80 yard diagonals but Dawson couldn't do that early in his career either, he got better when he moved to a better club, McKenna is doing that so should progress.

Think a lot of the pissy comments are because they misses out.

100% - exactly the signing we should be making. His wage won't be crazy either. With good coaching there is growth to come & who knows how far that can take him like many players his age.

Probably some are jealous but there also seems like genuine hatred to him like Yates gets or Worrall gets (for a mistake v Derby).

Unfortunately that is the atmosphere many football fans grow up in now. So much anger and hatred. And Twitter is just such a dangerous tool for that.

You just can't have the reasoned debate on there like you can on LTLF.

I'm struggling to figure out what that graph actually shows - due to the vertical axis not being labelled and the horizontal axis having no label or scale.

The only think I worry about with McKenna is quality level. He is a perfect fit and is highly recommended but the Scottish league is shit. SPL sides (minus Celtic and Rangers obvs) look to our conference for players. This could be a wake up call for McKenna playing in the championship. Hope he takes it in his stride and same Soh because on paper that’s a very solid partnership that compliments each other well, but football isn’t played on paper a certain manager said.......

I wondered that too, cant work it out. Vertical axis is just percentage up to 100, I think they've perhaps just put it on that plot and spread them out across the horizontal without it actually meaning anything so they aren't all clustered.
