My favourite 3 of all-time are Brian Moore, Barry Davies and Motty.
I like Ian Darke, Peter Drury, Clive Tyldesley, Alan Green and Alan Parry.
Dislike Martin Tyler and Jonathan Pearce.
Barry Davies head and shoulders above the rest.
Brian Moore was good.
Motson, heard so much it sort of just sounded right for a big match too. But he was also a bit annoying.
Don't mind Tyler. Though, I remember him more from the old Forest goals vids than Sky.
Peter Brackley was good on Italian football on Channel Four. And Tony Gubba was good on MotD/FIFA 95.
I like John Murray on Radio Five. Mike Ingham was good too.
Maybe nostalgia, but I liked Martin Fisher on Radio Nottingham.
All the MotD/BBC TV commentators now - I couldn't tell you who any of them are when they are on, and none of the names mean anything.
Alan Green is the worst. The wireless has to go off. Deludes himself into thinking he's a significant character in the game. He's mostly gone now, but occasionally he pops up still.
Barry Davies is the best ever, and not just for football.
Always used to enjoy Brian Moore as well, he just sounded like he really enjoyed his footy.
Also loved Peter Brackley on Football Italia, he was the voice of Italian football for me, too.
Also, Tim Capel and Angus Loughran („Statto!“) on Eurosport’s sadly missed Eurogoals.
John Murray and Connor McNamara on Five Live.
Can’t stand Jonathan Peirce. He’s just annoying.
„I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism“
„Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.”

Agreed Barry Davies, Brian Moore & Motty we’re cut above today’s shite
Hugh Johns was pretty good also
Martin Tyler grips my shit & boils my piss, terrible commentator who spends all match tonguing the arse of the PL
I dont like that bird who does match of the day highlights....its like shes faking an orgasm when she tries to get excited by a shot going wide in the battle for 15th place between Watford and Bournemouth.
I also dont like Jonathan Pearce he should fuck off back to robot wars.
Barry Davies was/is the best, Clough respected him that's good enough for me

Barry Davies the fave for sure.
Colin Frey as an overall presenter is a joy to listen too. I caught him more on matchtalk than commentary, but he's a real pro with a wonderfully Forest-bias attitude.
Jonathan Pearce's early stuff was pure comedy. I liked it for that reason much like I thought Fazza was funny, but can see why he'd get on folks tits. Plus he's got a good surname.
Barry Davies and David Coleman from BBCtv
Hugh Johns and Brian Moore from ITV.
Modern day commentators can't hold a candle to those four.
Women commentators in football screech like fingernails down a blackboard.
Barry Davies - greatest of all time
Peter Jones.
THE voice of radio football when I was younger.
"..and the sun shines now."

Not a commentator as such but an honourable mention MUST go to the man who will forever be introduced thus:
"...but first, the classified football results read, as always, by James Alexander Gordon."

Nearly all modern commentators have the approach that everything has to be the greatest, or most significant or, or most exciting, or worse thing they’ve ever seen. Bunch of drama queens.
And if a bigger team ever concedes it’s absolutely astonishing! As if a lower team should dare to score, unbelievable!
Oh FFS.
Past TV - David Coleman, Barry Davies (how he was judged as junior to Motson is utterly bewildering).
Past radio - Peter Jones, Mike Ingham
Present TV - Steve Wilson (similarly, it bewilders me how Guy Mowbray is regarded as his senior).

Most radio commentators. To the extent I would use the radio commentary with the TV pictures (though you can't seem to synch them in these digital days).
Often just turn TV commentary off and do my own, which I'm sure sounds like the moany bloke sat behind you at a match where he knows everything and the players nothing.
Edit: Alan Green, complete arse.
