We don’t really know what hughton wants from his full backs next year-does he want a defensive, solid with attributes of centre half or rampant quick player who can bomb on over laps having cover from deep laying midfielders? So it’s difficult to judge at moment. Yuri is decent and could fit nicely in another team but may not have attributes hughton is looking for.

A little surprising no one has felt confident in his abilities to sign him as a free agent yet.

Not sure that will cut it considering we offered him an improved contract which he rejected in favour of being closer to his family in Portugal

We need a left back, and he'd certainly fit the Murphy template of young(ish), high energy, cheap...

I know he was homesick but if he did want to come back because he couldn't find a club in Portugal, just to play football for the sake of his career, I wouldn't be against it whilst we found a longer term replacement LB.

Could give him a 12 month contract.

I think the bridges have been burned too much, but seeing Bong at LB and Yuri a free agent is the embodiment of how badly we've been run.

Still without a club while we are crying out for a left back. We could do so much worse than getting him back, if only on a temp contract.

You'd imagine he would be far from match sharp, but I'd take him back in a heartbeat

He rejected an improved contract in favour of living in Portugal with his family, as much as i'd love to have him back I can't see a way we could change his mind and tempt him back

If he’d come back, he’d do a job. Always liked him, decent player

Been rumours about it for a couple of weeks, seems to have resurfaced again today. Reading have fuck all money and are desperate for a left back, they're limited to free transfers and I doubt there's any better options for a LB on a free with as much championship experience as Yuri has. It would be weird if they weren't 'targeting him', doesn't necessarily mean it will develop though

If that is the case the question that should be asked is "What the fuck did we do to make him not want to stay with us?"

Or maybe not, but he moved back, decided after 3 months of no-one wanting to sign him anyway, to take the offer somewhere else to continue his career rather than sitting on the scrap heap without a club?
