It should never have been announced if the bulldozers were not already firing up their engines.
The proposed new stand isn't the issue - planning permission for that would have been a relative formality. The hold-up is the two adjoining apartment blocks which will ultimately be financing it.

As has been said, the planning process in the UK can be fraught with difficulties due to the right to object, the strength and effect of which can't be predicted until the application is lodged.

It is not like it is on an industrial estate or an empty piece of land either is it. There is no space around the stand.

Big projects with a lack of space are hugely difficult to get over the line. The Spurs stadium only ended up getting approval because the people that were stopping it's warehouse burnt to the ground.

I'm not complaining about the delay. What I said was that it was poor judgment and very uncharacteristic for EM to announce it before it was realistically on track.

Tell that to Boris and his mates. They're swimming in the drachma.

Edit: Oh it seems someone else has commented on government corruption already. Very good.

30/09/2021: It's only 8 points to the play-offs. Doesn't matter if we're 20th having lost three times as many games as we've won so far. I fancy us now that Hughton's gone.

From my understanding the only way this is being funded is by the sale of the residential development which has had a bit of a redesign to try and jam some more units in the space. The whole thing looks like a bit of a dogs dinner anyway so hopefully this delay might lead to a redesign and preferably new architects but i doubt it..

Unless you're hoping to acquire one of the apartments, why are aesthetics a concern?

From what I've seen, the only design alteration is a reduction in the height of one of them in accordance with objection by the rowing club next door.

    Exactly.

The Beatles once complained money couldnt buy them love.

It cannot buy you taste, either.

I believe in socialism because it seems more humanitarian, rather than every man for himself and 'I'm alright jack' and all those arsehole businessmen with all the loot. I made up my mind from viewing society from that angle. That's where I'm from and there's where I've made my decisions from. That's why I believe in socialism

Don't forget you're alive. 'Cause sometimes when you walk around the city and you're in a bad mood, you can think, hey, wait a minute, we're alive! We don't know what the next second will bring and what a fantastic thing this is. This can get easily forgotten in the routine of life, and that's something I'm trying to bring to my attention at all times. Don't forget you're alive. We're not dead, you know. This is the greatest thing.

World of difference between a spoilt man-child like Fawaz, a man who has never wanted for anything in his life and sucked the nipple of family wealth, and AM.

The blocks have changed significantly from the last render i preferred the original design (and i am interested in how things are designed and what they look like) which is why i think the new main stand is as much of a let down..

In other EM- and sporting facilities-related news, we are building an entirely new watersports complex (water-polo, swimming, diving etc.), mostly with money by EM, on public property next to the stadium the basketball team uses. Lease for 50+50 years.

Plans unveiled in August, the final deal, including all legal, technical, planning, legislative details, was struck today, before the end of September.

That merely emphasises the snail-speed planning process in the UK.

The result is basically a whole Olympiacos complex: the basketball arena is only a few hundred metres away from the football stadium, next to it will be the new home for all water sports (our water polo teams -male and female- are the most accomplished teams of the club on a European level), the volleyball arena is about 2.5 km to the north of the football stadium, and half a kilometre further to the north is the football club's training centre.

Also in other WFCG news - Forest are hoping to break the attendance record in the Women’s Northern Premier league, which is currently held by Derby County at just over 2000.

The match is on Sunday 3rd October, at the WFCG, vs Derby County. This will be the first time the Women’s team have played there.

Now he just needs to leave it out in the sun for a bit so the white bricks start to yellow.
